    • A color image forming apparatus including a color image reader for optically scanning a document to produce blue, green, and red color separated information, a processor for processing the color separating information supplied by the reader and generating black, yellow, magenta, and cyan color information signals, a rotatable image retainer, and two latent image forming devices for forming latent images at a common region on the image retainer in accordance with the color information signals corresponding to two recording colors. The first latent image is formed by one of the latent image forming devices in synchronization with the scanning of the color image recorder to form a first latent image at a first writing position. The second latent image forming device is delayed to form the second latent image at a second writing position. The delay device compensates for the time necessary for the common region on the image retainer to travel between the first and second writing positions. The apparatus further includes a number of developers, each developer being used to develop one of the latent images, thereby forming a multicolor image composed of multiple toner images on the image retainer. Two color latent images, corresponding to two of the color information signals, are formed on the image retainer and developed by the developing means during the first rotation of the image retainer corresponding to a first optical scanning of the document, and the remaining two color latent images, corresponding to the remaining two color information signals are formed on the image retainer and developed by the developing devices during a second rotation of the image retainer corresponding to a second scanning of the document. All the toner images are then simultaneously transferred to the transfer sheet.

    • A developing device for use in an image recording apparatus, comprising: a developer stirrer which stirs toner and carrier in order to prepare the compostion of developer; a developer supplier which supplies the developer prepared by the developer stirrer; a developer holder which attracts the developer supplied by the developer supplier onto its surface, conveys the developer to the development region; a height regulator which regulates the layer thickness of the developer attracted onto the surface of the developer holder; a developer remover which removes the residual developer from the surface of the developer holder after development; a magnetic conveyor which conveys the developer removed from the developer holder to the region of the developer stirrer; and a mechanical conveyor which is placed in the region between the magnetic conveyor and the developer stirrer, which removes the developer attracted onto the surface of the magnetic conveyor, and moves the removed developer toward the region between the magnetic carrier conveyor and the developer stirrer.

    • A method for forming a color image comprising the following steps is disclosed,(a) uniformly applying a primary charge to a photoreceptor comprised thereon of a conductive substrate, a photoconductive layer and an electrically insulating layer, wherein one of said layers is provided with plural kinds of color separating means being finely divided into units,(b) exposing said photoreceptor to light given from a color original and simultaneously applying secondary charge,(c) uniformly exposing said photoreceptor to a color light capable of passing through at least one kind of said color separating means to form an electrically charged image pattern,(d) developing said electrically charged pattern with a developer comprising a color toner by a developing means to form a toner pattern,(e) repeating said steps (c) and (d) at least once more,(f) transferring said toner pattern onto an image pattern receiving material, provided that the color light and the color toner each different from these in the every previous steps are used and(g) fixing said image patterns transferred on said image pattern receiving material, wherein an area of said toner image pattern formed on an individual unit of said color separating means is larger than an area of said individual unit. A color image improved in a color tone and a color density can be obtained.
