    • A slide type vacuum pump has a cylinder bore with a cylindrical piston reciprocatingly slidably fitted therein and defining a vacuum pumping chamber. A seal element is housed in an annular groove around the piston defined by a radially extending annular surface and an axially extending cylindrical surface. The seal element includes an inwardly radially extending annular portion axially abutted against the annular groove defining surface and an axially extending cylindrical portion slidingly sealing against the cylinder bore. A first spring member has an inwardly radially extending annular portion axially abuttingly holding the annular seal element portion against the annular groove defining surface, and several axially extending resilient finger portions each angled outwards somewhat and springingly pressing the cylindrical seal element portion radially outwards against the cylinder bore to effect sealing therebetween. The outer peripheral portion of a second disk shaped spring member resiliently axially presses the first spring member annular portion and the annular seal element portion against the annular groove defining surface.

    • A control valve for use in an automotive brake system for controlling the brake fluid pressure in rear-wheel cylinders of the type include an inlet chamber communicated with a master cylinder, an outlet chamber in communication with the rear-wheel cylinders, a valve chamber in hydraulic communication with both of the inlet and outlet chambers, the latter being communicated through a valve port, a ball valve floatingly disposed within the valve chamber and actuable to close the valve port when the deceleration of an automotive vehicle reaches a predetermined level, and a differential piston with its free ends disposed in the inlet and outlet chambers, respectively, to be exerted with the brake fluid pressure therein. A variable restriction is disposed upstream or downstream of the valve chamber and is actuable in response to the flow rate of brake fluid flowing therethrough in such a manner that when the flow rate exceeds a predetermined value, the flow of brake fluid may be restricted, thereby eliminating the departure of braking force distribution from an idealized distribution when brakes are abruptly applied.

    • A warning device for a friction pad in a disk brake of the type which includes a brake disk, and a pair of lined brake shoes which are disposed on the opposite sides of the brake disk and slidable towards the brake disk so as to hold the brake disk therebetween for frictional engagement. This warning device includes a contacting piece which is movable, together with at least one of the shoes, towards one of the side surfaces of the brake disk. A plurality of serrations or projecting portions are provided in part of the surface of the brake disk, which is adjacent to the frictional contacting surface of the brake disk. The projecting portions extend in the radial direction and are arranged in the circumferential direction of the disk. When the friction pads are worn down beyond a predetermined limit, the contacting piece contacts the projecting portions on the brake disk, thereby giving off a clattering noise for warning the driver to get brake service.

    • The present invention provides a data processing apparatus having a programmable logic and a method for controlling the apparatus. If it is determined that the reconfiguration of the programmable logic is necessary, register setting data for reconfiguring the programmable logic is supplied to the programmable logic. The programmable logic reads out circuit information from a memory storing the circuit information in accordance with the register setting data and reconfigures a function of the programmable logic. A CPU transfers the register setting data to the programmable logic and then transfers data to be processed by the programmable logic whose function has been reconfigured, to the programmable logic.
