    • An image pickup apparatus includes an image pickup device that includes a plurality of focus detection pixels, a phase difference detection type of a first focus detector, a contrast detection type of a second focus detector, and a controller. The controller is configured to allow the second focus detector to continue the focus detection when the shift amount detected by the first focus detector is larger than a threshold even when the second focus detector detects the lens position corresponding to the peak of the contrast value, and to move the image pickup lens to a lens position that provides a peak of a contrast value detected by the second focus detector when the shift amount is the threshold or smaller.

    • An axial motor includes a rotor arranged between a pair of stators with coils. In the rotor, a plurality of permanent magnets sandwiched between pairs of first magnetic materials and a plurality of second magnetic materials are alternately arranged in a rotation direction while gaps are provided therebetween. Since the permanent magnets are sandwiched by the first magnetic materials in the thus constructed axial motor, a field-weakening control can be performed. Since the second magnetic materials are provided, a reluctance torque can be generated. Further, since the gaps are provided, more magnetic fluxes generated from the permanent magnets can be caused to flow toward the coils. Therefore, the thus constructed axial motor can achieve a higher output, higher torque, higher efficiency, and miniaturization.

The guide control section acquires the information for the next guide intersection from the route information storage unit and acquires information for roads at the guide branch from the road information held by the information storage unit, and determines the guidance information for the next guide intersection on the basis of an identified admission road to the guide intersection and the link data of the road information.
