    • A method is provided for condition monitoring of a rope of an elevator including an elevator car and a rope wheel arrangement, which rope is connected to the elevator car and passes around at least one rope wheel included in the rope wheel arrangement. The method includes obtaining travel data of the elevator car, the travel data including information describing occurrence(s) of car start(s) and/or bypass(es); and determining based on the travel data a total number of car visits at a predetermined landing in the path of the elevator car, which total number is the sum of the number of starts of the elevator car away from said predetermined landing so as to travel to any other landing irrespective of the traveling direction, and the number of times the elevator car has bypassed said predetermined landing without stopping irrespective of the traveling direction; and comparing the total number or a multifold of the total number with a first predetermined limit value, wherein said multifold equals to the total number multiplied with factor n wherein n equals the number of said at least one rope wheel; and performing one or more predetermined action if said total number or the multifold of the total number meets the first predetermined limit value, said one or more action including one or more of indicating a weakened rope condition, indicating a need for maintenance or replacement of elevator rope(s), calculating an estimated moment of maintenance or replacement of elevator rope(s), sending a specific or general warning signal, sending a fault signal, sending a signal to a service center the signal indicating weakened rope condition or a need for maintenance or a need for replacement of elevator rope(s). An arrangement implements the method.

    • A rope lifting tool for belt-shaped ropes provided with an uneven surface pattern on one or both of its opposing wide sides, includes a first guide for guiding the rope lifting tool along a first guide rail; a second guide for guiding the rope lifting tool along a second guide rail; an upright plate, and an inclined plate at an acute angle relative to the upright plate, the upright plate and the inclined plate having a wedge shaped space between them; and a plurality of wedge members placed adjacent each other inside the wedge-shaped space. A rope gap for receiving an end of a belt-shaped rope is formed between each wedge member and the upright plate, which rope gap is narrowable by wedging of the wedge member in the wedge shaped space. A rope lifting arrangement includes the rope lifting tool. Each rope gap is delimited by a vertical face of a wedge member and a vertical face of the upright plate or a vertical face of a liner attached thereon, and the vertical face of the wedge member and/or the vertical face of the liner is provided with an uneven surface pattern forming a counterpart for the uneven surface pattern of the belt-shaped rope.

    • A method is provided for manufacturing an electrical contact arrangement on an end of a hoisting rope of a hoisting apparatus, which hoisting rope includes a non-conductive coating, and a plurality of adjacent conductive load bearing members for bearing the load exerted on the rope in a longitudinal direction thereof embedded in the coating and extending parallel to each other and to the longitudinal direction of the hoisting rope unbroken throughout the length of the rope, the coating forming the surface of the hoisting rope and extending between adjacent load bearing members thereby isolating them from each other, in which method a conductive plate element is placed beside the end of the hoisting rope; and the conductive plate element is attached immovably beside the end of the hoisting rope with at least one threaded screw member made of conductive material by screwing the threaded screw member into the hoisting rope such that it extends centrally between load bearing members next to each other, and such that the threads thereof are in contact with both of said load bearing members next to each other, the conductive plate element being thereby brought to be in conductive connection with both of said load bearing members next to each other via said at least one screw member.
