    • Disclosed is a vertical alignment mode liquid crystal display. The liquid crystal display includes an array substrate which includes a pixel electrode having a plurality of first patterns which regularly repeat, a color filter substrate which includes a color resin layer having a plurality of second patterns which regularly repeat, and a common electrode formed on the color resin layer, and which is disposed so as to face the array substrate such that the first patterns intersect with the second patterns, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the array substrate and the color filter substrate. The pixel electrode has connection portions and slits between the first patterns, and the color resin layer has connection portions, protrusions, or grooves between the second patterns. The first and second patterns have an identical shape, or are of different sizes. The first and second patterns rotate to a certain angle.

    • A method for multi-model biometric identification and a system thereof are provided. The method for performing multi-model biometric identification by using a plurality of single biometric identification systems includes: receiving from the single biometric identification system a single biometric comparison value generated by comparing biometric information of a user for whom an identity confirmation request is received, with biometric information of previously registered users; with the single biometric comparison value, generating a comparison value vector for each registered user; in relation to each of registered users, verifying whether or not the comparison value vector is generated by comparison of an identical person and generating a determined value; and by using the determined value, generating a candidate list listing in a predetermined order, users who have highest probabilities of being the user who wants to be identified. Accordingly, by using a variety of biometric characteristics, more accurate identification of a user is enabled.

    • A concept of improving a resolution by using human's visual characteristics is provided. An image can be displayed at a more improved resolution than an actual physical resolution, thereby obtaining the same effect that the resolution is physically improved. An image signal corresponding to one frame is split into a first image signal and a second image signal, and a first image and a second image are formed based on the first image signal and the second image signal. Then, the first image and the second image are respectively displayed at a first location and a second location. As a result, a viewer can view the image at an improved resolution.
