    • In the liquid crystal display device having a back-light source for illumination, image data is provided to the panel in successive frames such that the optical response of the liquid crystal in each pixel within a frame period has an impulse-like shape. The back-light source is controlled to illuminate the liquid crystal display panel such that the illumination is provided to the pixels for only part of the frame period. The optical response curve has a rising portion followed by a falling portion, and the back-light source is controlled by a timing control module such that the back-light is turned off at least when the optical response curve is in the falling portion. It is also possible to remove the image data from the pixels, or to control the charging and discharging of the electrodes to produce the impulse-like shape.

    • An exemplary gamma curve compensating method is used in a displaying process of a display system for inserting a plurality of grey-scale images to adjust the displaying quality of the display system. A grey-scale luminance of each grey-scale image is one of the grey-scales. The gamma curve compensating method includes: providing a plurality of look-up tables (LUTs) according to the different grey-scales; selecting a specific grey-scale of the different grey-scales as a grey-scale luminance of one of the grey-scale images and accordingly selecting a specific LUT of the LUTs corresponding to the specific grey-scale; and performing a gamma-curve compensating based on the specific LUT to keep the gamma curve of the display system invariable in the displaying process. A gamma curve compensating circuit and a display system for performing the gamma curve compensating method are also provided in the present invention.

    • An exemplary driving method is adapted for a bistable display device including a pixel array. The pixel array includes a plurality of first pixels and a plurality of second pixels arranged in a predetermined manner. The driving method includes the following steps of: during a first time period, providing the first pixels with a first pixel voltage for black insertion and providing the second pixels with a second pixel voltage different from the first pixel voltage; during a second time period following the first time period, providing the first pixels with the second pixel voltage for white insertion and maintaining the second pixels provided with the second pixel voltage for white insertion; and during a third time period following the second time period, initiating the first pixels to display a gray scale image and providing the second pixels with the first pixel voltage for black insertion.
