    • While a vehicle travels in a regular point, an absolute position of the vehicle is detected based on detection signals of a GPS sensor, a gyro sensor and a vehicle speed sensor. Then, a map matching process is performed such that the detected absolute position is corrected to be matched with a road map of map data. While the vehicle travels at a specific point, track position information of the vehicle based on the detected absolute position is stored independently of the map data. In particular, when the track position information regarding the specific point at which the vehicle is traveling at this point has been already stored, the information is sent to a light control unit, whereby the light control unit performs the optical axis control according to the traveling track indicated by the track position information.

    • A drive information collecting apparatus includes position specifying portion, storage control portion, and statistical confidence level storage portion. The position specifying portion specifies a present position of a vehicle and a road section. The storage control portion causes a storage medium to store a drive information item of each of the road section. The drive information item is collected while the vehicle travels. The statistical confidence level storage portion specifies a statistical confidence level based on a divergence between a predetermined reference value and the collected drive information item. The statistical confidence level indicates a degree of variation of the collected drive information item. The statistical confidence level storage portion associates the collected drive information item with the statistical confidence level and causes the storage medium to store the collected drive information item.

    • An absolute position detector of a navigation device detects an absolute position of a vehicle. An on-map position of the vehicle is acquired based on the detected absolute position to be on a road map indicated by map data stored in the navigation device. Absolute positions detected by the absolute position detector are stored in association with on-map positions acquired based on the detected absolute positions as travel track information when the vehicle travels. An error of the map data as a reliability degree of the map data is set by comparing the travel track information with the map data.
