    • A motion estimator and a method of estimating motion are provided. The motion estimator comprises a candidate vector calculating unit for determining a plurality of candidate vectors for each block of a frame to be interpolated, on the basis of a current frame and a previous frame, a final motion deciding unit for selecting a candidate vector among the plurality of candidate vectors, according to a desired criteria, and for outputting the selected candidate vector as a final motion vector of a corresponding block and a global vector modeling unit for performing regression analysis based on final motion vectors to model a global vector calculating formula, and for providing the global vector calculating formula to the candidate vector calculating unit, wherein the candidate vector calculating unit calculates a global vector for each block of a next frame to be interpolated according to the modeled global vector calculating formula, and provides the global vector as one of the plurality of candidate vectors to the candidate vector deciding unit. Thus, exemplary embodiments of the present invention provide a motion estimator and a motion estimating method which are capable of obtaining a correct global vector while simplifying the configuration of the hardware.

    • The present general inventive concept relates to a display apparatus processing a frame for a picture by a plurality of timesharing subfields, comprising a gradation converter to convert a video signal into a moving picture gradation, and the moving picture gradation comprises at least two linear gradation levels including one or more successive non-light emission subfields and one or more successive light emission subfields temporally adjacent to the one or more successive non-light emission subfields, and at least one middle gradation level including one or more discontinuous from the non-light emission subfields and one or more discontinuous light emission subfields and the at least one middle gradation level falling between the at least two linear gradation levels. Thus, the display apparatus can decrease a false contour of a moving picture while at the same time finely displaying the moving picture.

    • Provided are an image processing apparatus and an image processing method, the image processing apparatus including: a parallax estimation unit which estimates parallax with respect to a left eye image and a right eye image of a three-dimensional (3D) image; a horizontal movement value determination unit which determines a horizontal movement value using the estimated parallax; a horizontal movement unit which horizontally moves the left eye image and the right eye image based on the horizontal movement value; and a controller which calculates a chronological change rate of the estimated parallax for a predetermined time, determines whether the chronological change rate is greater than a predetermined threshold, and if the chronological change rate is greater, limits the horizontal movement value to a predetermined range and controls the horizontal movement unit to horizontally move the left eye image and the right eye image based on the limited horizontal movement value.
