摘要： A drive circuit for a liquid crystal display apparatus and a large-sized liquid crystal display apparatus integrated with the drive circuit and having a reduced area occupied by the circuits. The drive circuit includes sample/hold circuits for sampling the input voltage at a predetermined timing, comparator circuits for comparing the output of the sample/hold circuits with the voltage of the signal line VD(i), switches for controlling the output voltage of the signal line, a voltage supply circuit constituted as an image signal control circuit for supplying a voltage to the switches, and control circuits for controlling the switches in accordance with the output of the comparator circuits. For the liquid crystal display panel drive circuit configured as described above, the signal line is controlled by the switches, and therefore the area occupied by the drive circuits can be reduced.

A drive voltage of the liquid crystal display apparatus is an alternating current voltage having a period which is shorter than a period of fetching by the display data holding circuit.

摘要： A liquid crystal display apparatus includes: one of a pair of substrates being transparent and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the pair of substrates; the one substrate including a plurality of scanning wirings, a plurality of signal wirings, a plurality of thin film semiconductor devices formed on intersections of the scanning wirings and the signal wirings, and a display electrode; and the other substrate including an opposed electrode. The apparatus further includes: first relay buses extended continuously over a width of said signal wirings, and second relay buses divided the width of signal wirings into a plurality of blocks; a relay circuit formed between the first and second relay buses for each of the blocks; a data latch read the display data in sequence through the second relay buses to latch the display data of one block amount; a memory circuit which reads out the display data of the one block amount simultaneously; a level shifter circuit which reads out a content of the memory circuit to change a logical voltage; and a D/A circuit which converts an output from the level shifter circuit into an analog voltage to drive the signal wirings.

摘要： The output lines are connected to the signal lines. The gradation voltage lines are arranged to intersect the output lines. Two switch drive lines are provided for one gradation voltage line. The trigger lines are provided in parallel with the output lines. The switch circuits are provided near the intersections at which those wiring lines intersect each other. The decoder to which the multi-tone image data is fed produces data of “1” on one single switch drive line, and data of “0” on the other switch drive lines. The trigger pulses are sequentially supplied to the trigger lines. Data of “1” is stored in the switch circuit connected to the switch drive line of “1”. The gradation voltages from the gradation voltage lines connected to the switch circuit in which data of “1” is stored are supplied via the output lines to the signal lines.
