    • The present invention provides a process for preparing a mixture, which mixture includes catenate and cyclic siloxanes of formula I R3Si—O—(SiR2—O—)mSiR3   (I) and cyclic siloxanes of formula II wherein m is an integer from 0 to 40 and n is an integer from 2 to 40, wherein R2 and R3 are each independently an organic functional group selected from the group including alkyl, aryl, vinyl, and alkoxy groups, and wherein there is not more than one vinyl group or aryl group per silicon atom, said process including a controlled hydrolysis, condensation or cocondensation reaction of at least one monomeric silane in alcoholic solution in the presence of an acidic catalyst, which reaction includes contacting alcohol, water, and at least one chlorosilane component selected from the group including (i), (ii), (iii): (i) at least one arylchlorosilane; (ii) at least one admixture selected from the group including alkylchlorosilane and arylchlorosilane, arylchlorosilane and vinylchlorosilane, alkylchlorosilane and vinylchlorosilane, and arylchlorosilane and vinylchlorosilane and alkylchlorosilane; (iii) at least one selected from the group including chlorosilane, alkylchlorosilane, arylchlorosilane, and vinylchlorosilane in two or more separate batches to obtain two or more separate mixtures and thereafter combining the mixtures; to form the mixture of the catenate and cyclic siloxanes. The present invention also provides the mixtures and the use of such mixtures.

    • The present Invention relates to a mixture comprising catenary, branched and for cyclic siloxanes of the general formula (I) where x is 1, 2 or 3, the substituents R are (i) organofunctional groups selected from —CH2—SH, —CH2—S—(CO)—R′, —CH2—(O—C2H4)a—OH with a=1 to 10, —CH2(O—C2H4)b—OR′ with b=1 to 40, —(CH2)—NH2, —(CH2)—NHR′, —(CH2)—NR′2, —(CH2)—NH(CH2)2—NH2, —(CH2)—N[(CH2)2—NH2]2 and —(CH2)—NH(CH2)2—NH(CH2)2—NH2, In which R′ is a linear, branched or cyclic alkyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms or an aryl group having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, (ii) hydroxyl, methoxy, ethoxy, 2-methoxyethoxy, isopropoxy, n-propoxy, isobutoxy and for n-butoxy groupe, and (iii) where appropriate, alkyl, alkenyl, isoalkyl, cycloalkyl or fluorcalkyl groups having 1 to 18 carbon atoms or aryl groups having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, whit the proviso that not more than one organofunctional group (i) is attached per silicon atom, the quotient of the molar ratio of the moiety (ii) to silicon le from I to 2, and the degree of oligornerization for compounds of the general formula I is in the range from 2 to 50. The present invention also relates to a specific process for preparing said siloxane mixtures and also to their use.

    • Novel alkoxy titanium(IV)-chelates are used to modify printing inks based on nitrocellulose or other cellulose ester derivatives. The novel chelates comprise citric acid alkyl esters as chelate formers. They delay, as other titanium chelates do, the well-known catalytic effect of the titanium component in cross-linking reactions. When used in printing inks, the novel titanium chelates and their alcoholic solutions have the advantage that they have an insignificant color of their own, so that they practically do not discolor the printing inks. A further advantage of the novel chelates resides in that they do not enter into alteration effects with antioxidants based on phenol, so that they can also be used for printing inks which are to be applied to polymeric substrates containing such antioxidants without the occurence of discoloration.
