    • According to one embodiment, an ontology updating apparatus includes a generation unit, an updating unit, a detection unit and a notification unit. The generation unit generates updating reference relationship. The updating unit updates a first class and a first package. The detection unit detects, using the updating reference relationship, whether at least one of target packages are comprised in the updating reference packages of the updated first package, the target packages each indicating a package to be updated and associated with the updated first class. The notification unit generates, if there is the target package, an update notice that the target package needs to be updated.

    • A hybrid electric vehicle has a controller, an engine, a traction motor, and a transmission. The controller is configured for calculating, using a costing function, the total system losses incurred at each operating point of the HEV, including the losses for each of the engine, the traction motor, and the transmission. The controller selectively modifies the calculated cost of at least one of the engine, the traction motor, and the transmission in a designated one of the transmission states as a function of transmission fluid temperature. An optimal transmission state is then selected as the state having the optimal cost relative to the other transmission states. Selectively modifying the calculated cost may include penalizing the cost of using designated transmission states when the measured fluid temperature exceeds certain calibrated temperature limits. Designated operating states may be disabled above an upper temperature limit to protect the transmission from overheating.

    • Example embodiments relate to a machine-readable storage medium encoded with instructions executable by a processor of a computing device including a display device. The machine-readable storage medium may include instructions that access a stored indication upon boot-up of the computing device using a Basic Input Output System (BIOS). In addition, the machine-readable storage medium may include instructions that determine, using the stored indication, whether an operating system (OS) of the computing device exited properly, and instructions that display a BIOS productivity display using the display device when it is determined that the computing device exited properly. Still further, the machine-readable storage medium may include instructions that permit the OS to display a recovery display when it is determined that the OS did not exit properly.
