摘要： The present invention generally provides methods and devices that allow more efficient delivery of a stimulus, such as optical radiation, to the skin. In many embodiments, negative and/or positive pressure is applied to one or more skin regions in order to maintain a skin target under tension so as to redistribute blood volume between the skin target and other skin segments. In many cases, such tension can cause a depletion of the volumetric blood content in the skin target (that is, in the blood vessels beneath a surface of the skin target), thereby facilitating delivery of radiation to the skin target.

摘要： Methods and systems are disclosed for phototreatment in which replaceable containers comprising one or more adjuvant (consumable or re-useable) substances are employed. The adjuvant substance can be, for example, a topical substance or a coolant. Systems are disclosed for using a topical substance to detect contact of a phototreatment device with a tissue, detect speed of a phototreatment device over the tissue, detect regions of tissue that have been treated by a phototreatment device and/or to provide other benefits to the tissue such as improved skin tone and texture, tanning, etc. Safety systems are also disclosed that ensure that a proper consumable substance and/or container is connected to a phototreatment device and/or directed to a proper target. Additionally, cooling systems and methods that utilize phase change materials for extracting heat from a light generating device are disclosed.

摘要： The present invention provides a handheld dermatological device for visualizing a skin treatment region prior to, during, or after therapeutic treatment with therapeutic energy. An apparatus according to the teachings of the invention can include an image capture device and a display device mounted to the apparatus and electrically coupled to the image capture device. The display device is capable of displaying images of the treatment area captured by the image capture device. The apparatus can further include a head capable of transmitting therapeutic energy to a treatment area, which can be precisely aligned by the user to a desired portion of the treatment area through the use of the display device. In some embodiments, the apparatus can include one or more illumination sources for illuminating a skin target region, and shield for shielding the image capture device from direct reflection of the illuminating radiation from a selected skin surface portion.

摘要： A method and apparatus are provided for processing biological tissue and other materials which involves providing or distributing a substance containing abrasive particles to an area in front of at least a portion of a surface of the material and irradiating both the substance and the portion of the surface with light from a selected source, the light being selected and delivered in a manner such that selective ablation is caused on the substance sufficient to force the abrasive particles under a selected pulse against the portion of the surface. Ablation may be of the particles themselves or the particles may be contained within a shell, with ablation being of the shell. The substance is preferably delivered as a series of distribution pulses with the light being delivered either continuously or as light pulses having a predetermined relationship to the distribution pulses.

摘要： The present invention is a number of methods and devices for tooth rejuvenation and hard tissue modification comprising applying a layer of a peroxide-free composition to a tooth surface. The applied composition comprises an aqueous solution of one or more edible acids. The composition has a pH selected from the range of about 0.5 to 5. After the treatment the composition is removed from the tooth surface. In various embodiments of the invention the pH of the composition can range between about 0.5 and 3, a narrower range being between 1 and 1.75. Hard tissue rejuvenation comprises forming a post-treatment layer having a composition which is different from that of the hard tissue of the hard tissue by selectively heating a porous layer on the hard tissue.
