摘要： The present invention provides a method for determining ethanol thresholds for a flexible fuel control system for a motor vehicle capable of operating on more than one type of fuel. Preferably, the ethanol threshold is determined from an off-idle purge-free cell from a matrix of fuel adaptive memory cells normally used to compensate for car-to-car variations in required fueling. The ethanol threshold is periodically reduced to compensate for levels of alcohol creep indicated by the amount of purge-free adaptive memory elevation. If the learned value of percent alcohol content of the fuel is less than the ethanol threshold, gasoline operating parameters are implemented for the internal combustion engine. The off-idle purge-free cell also provides a basis for interpolating an on-board diagnostic (OBDII) ethanol threshold. As such, the OBDII monitors are only enabled if the learned value of percent alcohol content of the fuel is less than the OBDII ethanol threshold.

The methodology detects and models an alcohol concentration transition at fuel injector tips following a fuel addition. The methodology improves the accuracy of engine fueling during an alcohol concentration change by delaying the application of a fuel composition multiplier until the fuel analyzed by the fuel composition sensor actually reaches the injectors.

摘要： A method and corresponding system for optimizing performance of an internal combustion engine. The present invention senses gases emitted from engine combustion chambers via a first gas sensor and senses gases emitted from said engine combustion chambers subsequent to said gases passing through an engine catalytic converter via a second gas sensor. The temperatures of said first and second gas sensors are then sensed through data output from first and second gas sensors and temperature sensors. The first and second gas sensors are linearized in response to the sensed temperatures of the first and second gas sensors. The fuel level input into the engine combustion chambers is adjusted in response to linearizing of the first and second gas sensors.

摘要： A pressure relief valve includes a cylindrical poppet having a fluid metering stem. The valve is configured such that the effective surface area of the transverse aspect of the poppet exposed to fluid pressure during a closed valve condition is greater than the effective surface area of the transverse aspect of the poppet exposed to fluid pressure during an open valve condition. This feature creates a narrow spread for cracking to reseat pressure points since the surface area of the poppet available to experience fluid-related pressure is reduced as the valve moves from its closed to open position. While closed, the poppet is exposed to fluid pressure at the axial end face of the stem and at an annular end face portion of the poppet defined by the clearance between the stem and fluid channel. While open, the poppet experiences fluid pressure at the end face of the stem.

摘要： A cover assembly for use in a fuel dispensing cabinet includes an upper shroud member and a lower shroud member that are arranged at a side area of the cabinet chassis proximate the sump facility. The shroud members are provided in a shingle-type configuration in which the upper shroud member at its lower edge portion overlaps with the lower shroud member at its upper edge portion. A pair of elongate column channel members are configured at respective corner posts of the chassis and each includes a vertical channel portion that receives the side edge portions of the upper and lower shroud members. A fluid diversion assembly is arranged within the chassis end area adjacent the electronics compartment at the upper section of the cabinet. This assembly includes a transverse wall structure having a shoulder portion providing an “S”-shaped cross-section, a splash shield disposed in seating engagement with such shoulder portion, and a seal plate provided in adjacent surface-abutting engagement with the transverse wall structure. These structures cooperatively define a transverse fluid passageway that allows fluid striking the splash shield to flow into the passageway, which is provided in fluid communication with the respective channel portions of a pair of elongate column channel members so as to enable such diverted fluid to be transported outside the cabinet.
