摘要： Motor vehicle sensor signals are evaluated by a fuzzy system, which generates control signals for a system device of the motor vehicle—for example an automatic transmission, active suspension, speed stabilization, power-steering assistance, or traction control. The fuzzy system is connected to a neural network, which evaluates the sensor signals and reference data from a recording of driving data of the motor vehicle. The neural network optimizes the rule base of the fuzzy system. During a driving operation, the fuzzy system generates on-line signals categorizing the respective driving situation, and thus makes possible intelligent, time-adaptive, driving-situation-dependent control. The fuzzy system and the neural network each contain a classification system which can be reciprocally converted by a correspondence-maintaining bidirectional transformation.

The drive train controller has an engine controller for controlling variables affecting engine torque and a transmission controller for controlling shifting events of an automatic transmission. There is an interface interconnecting the transmission controller and the engine controller for allowing constant communications between the transmission controller and the engine controller. The transmission controller transmits a correction term M.sub.kor to the engine controller over the interface for controlling a magnitude of the engine torque. The transmission controller transmits a time constant to the engine controller via the interface for controlling the dynamic behavior of the engine torque. In a first phase of the shifting operation, in which idle travels of the gearshift elements are overcome, the pressure is rapidly made to approach a desired value through the use of a control signal (open-loop control) with a high duty cycle. In a second phase of the shifting operation, in which a transmission input moment changes from the gearshift element of an old gear over to the gearshift element of a new gear, the hydraulic pressure is built up with a high duty cycle. In a third phase of the shifting operation, in which a decrease in engine rpm required to carry out the gear change takes place, through a change in the duty cycle, the hydraulic pressure is first rapidly brought by open-loop control to a desired variable and thereafter is closed-loop controlled.

The controller contains an evaluation circuit in which an intervention signal, which is generated by manual intervention by the driver, is evaluated and, subsequent thereto, one of the prescribed assignments is modified by emitting an evaluation signal. In this context, subfunctions of the controller can be switched off or important stored parameters of subfunctions can be modified without entirely deactivating them.
