摘要： A method, system and apparatus for improving data transfer rate over a network are provided. When a piece of data is to be transmitted to a target system, it is divided into a number of packets and a determination is made as to whether the number of packets exceeds a threshold number. If so, the packets are transferred in parallel over a plurality of network connections. The ideal network connections are TCP/IP connections. Thus, each packet has an IP header, which contains an IP identification field. An indicium is placed into the IP identification field for proper reconstruction of the data by the target system.

摘要： A method, system and apparatus for multicasting or broadcasting a piece of data from one partition of a partitioned computer system to a plurality of partitions of the system are provided. When a partition needs to transfer data to more than one partition of the system, the partition first stores the data into a global memory accessible by all partitions of the system. The memory is then marked “read-only” to ensure that the data is not over-written and the Ids (identifications) of the recipient partitions are passed to a piece of firmware or hardware of the computer system. This firmware or hardware then alerts the recipient partitions that there is a piece of data ready to be read in the memory. Once all the recipient partitions have read the data, the global memory is reverted to a “read” and “write” memory.

摘要： A method, system, and product are described for alleviating router congestion when the router is processing packets transmitted by computer systems having a congestion notification capability. The router marks packets transmitted between a first computer system and a second computer system when the first and second computer systems have the congestion notification capability. The marking indicates that the router is moderately congested. A marked packet is then received by the first computer system. The router then drops packets transmitted by the first computer system when the packets were transmitted subsequently to the receipt of the marked packet.

If the receiving router determines the originator to be the destination computer, the receiving router forwards the source quench message to the source computer. If the receiving router determines the originator to be an intermediate router, the receiving computer determines if there is an alternative route from the receiving router to the destination computer. If the receiving router determines there is no alternative route from the receiving router to the destination computer, the receiving router forwards the source quench message to the source computer. If the receiving router determines there is an alternative route to the destination computer, the receiving router does not forward the source quench message to the source computer, and, going forward, routes packets to the destination computer by the alternative route.

A transport layer of a network protocol stack receives a send socket call for data of a specified length from an application layer. Responsive to detecting that there is insufficient memory for a single memory allocation to a buffer in the transport layer for at least the specified length, the transport layer blocks the send socket call. The transport layer only wakes the send socket call upon detection of sufficient memory for the single memory allocation within the buffer of the transport layer for at least the specified length, wherein waking the send socket call triggers a kernel to perform the single memory allocation in the buffer and to write the data to the single memory allocation in a single pass.

摘要： The present invention, in one embodiment, aids the user during composition of emails/letters/documents with assistance for correct gender usage. In one example application, first an automated user information look-up process is initiated over centralized databases using the proper names mentioned in the composition. Once matches are found, gender-related information is retrieved and the composer is assisted with gender recognition tools while composing gender-sensitive statements. When mismatches between proper nouns and the corresponding adjectives/pronouns are found, this method proceeds with highlighting or otherwise flagging the mismatching words. Upon right-clicking the highlighted words, the user is given suggestions for the most probably correct options. Examples of the idea explained in this invention can be incorporated in existing software/systems of email/document editor/composers.
