    • A formation evaluation tool positionable in a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation is provided. The formation evaluation tool includes a cooling system adapted to pass a cooling fluid near electronics in the formation evaluation tool whereby heat is dissipated therefrom, the electronics has at least one gauge, a fluid communication device having an inlet adapted to receive the formation fluid and a flowline operatively connected to the fluid communication device and the gauge for placing the formation fluid in fluid communication therewith whereby properties of the formation fluid are determined. The formation evaluation tool may also be provided with a plurality of sample chambers operatively connected to the flowline for collecting at least a portion of the formation fluid and a pressure compensator in fluid communication with the wellbore and operatively connected to the plurality of sample chambers for applying pressure to the sample chambers whereby pressure is balanced therebetween.

    • A rugged hard disk drive storage assembly is disclosed. The rugged hard disk drive storage assembly includes an enclosure capable of containing multiple hard disk drives. The enclosure also contains multiple shock and vibration absorbers that are configured to elastically support all the hard disk drives contained within the enclosure. The multiple shock absorbers protect the delicate electronic hard disk drives and their sensitive information from shock and vibration damage, even when the enclosure has been removed from the drive container, and is being carried away by personal in a harsh combat environment. In addition, the enclosure is hermetically sealed such that the hard disk drives are isolated from external environment.

    • A sample module for use in a downhole tool includes a sample chamber for receiving and storing pressurized fluid. A piston is slidably disposed in the chamber to define a sample cavity and a buffer cavity, and the cavities have variable volumes determined by movement of the piston. A first flowline is provided for communicating fluid obtained from a subsurface formation through the sample module. A second flowline connects the first flowline to the sample cavity, and a third flowline connects the sample cavity to one of the first flowline and an outlet port. A first valve is disposed in the second flowline for controlling the flow of fluid from the first flowline to the sample cavity, and a second valve is disposed in the third flowline for controlling the flow of fluid out of the sample cavity, whereby any fluid preloaded in the sample cavity may be flushed therefrom using the formation fluid in the first flowline and the first and second valves.
