    • Aspects of the present invention relate to systems and methods for intra prediction. According to a first aspect of the present invention, a pixel value, in a first block of a macroblock, may be predicted according to a first-direction intra-prediction mode when a flag has a first value and may be predicted according to a second-direction intra-prediction mode when the flag has a second value, wherein the first-direction intra-prediction mode and the second-direction intra-prediction mode are associated with opposite prediction directions.According to a second aspect of the present invention, a pixel value, in a first block of a macroblock, may be predicted according to a first-direction intra-prediction mode when a flag has a first value and, when the flag has a second value, the pixel value may be predicted based on a weighted average of a first value predicted according to the first-direction intra-prediction mode and a second value predicted according to a second-direction intra-prediction mode, wherein the first-direction intra-prediction mode and the second-direction intra-prediction mode are associated with opposite prediction directions.

    • Aspects of the present invention relate to methods and systems for predicting an offset factor for a target block of a multi-layer image having a low-dynamic-range layer and a high-dynamic-range layer wherein the offset factor is used to predict the high-dynamic-range layer from the low-dynamic-range layer. Some aspects relate to determining a first scaling parameter and a first offset parameter for a first adjacent block adjacent to the target block and determining a second scaling parameter and a second offset parameter for a second adjacent block adjacent to the target block. Some aspects relate to fitting a mathematical model to the first scaling parameter, the second scaling parameter, the first offset parameter and the second offset parameter and to determining a target scaling parameter for the target block. Some aspects relate to determining a target offset parameter for the target block using the target scaling parameter and the mathematical model.
