摘要： An optical transmitting apparatus is configured such that K pieces of output ports of optical path switching units whose input port is connected to k-th input transmission path are connected to first to K-th output transmission paths except for the k-th output transmission path and to the k-th input port of a dropping unit, and the optical path switching units and the dropping unit outputs light of wavelength which is part or all of WDM light received from said input port from a specific output port, and can output light having a wavelength different from that of the light output from said specific output port from an output port different from said specific output port. Accordingly, while largely reducing the number of optical fiber patch cords necessary in an optical transmitting apparatus and largely reducing the number of spare ports, the flexible expansion of apparatus function can be realized.

摘要： The improved quadrature phase shift keying modulator has a structure such that the average light output power of phase-shift keying modulation light output from the combining unit is changed according to the phase difference between the first and the second optical signal after being combined by means of applying driving signals different in eye crossing percentage by the first modulator and the second modulator, respectively, and has a power monitor monitoring the average light output power of quadrature phase-shift keying modulated light and a phase shift controlling unit which performs feedback control of the phase shift amount in the phase shifting unit based on the average light output power monitored by the power monitor.

The signal lights input and output by the first WSS and the second WSS are transmitted bidirectionally within a single optical transmission line.

摘要： An optimally-sized optical cross-connect that switches optical signal paths with a minimum number of wavelength selective switches and their interconnections. To switch optical signals of N routes (N=1, 2, . . . ), an optical cross-connect includes a 2×N (2-input, N-output) wavelength selective switch for each of N input routes and a N×2 (N-input, 2-output) wavelength selective switch for each of N output routes. One input port of each 2×N wavelength selective switch receives an optical signal from a corresponding input route, while the other input port of the same receives an optical add signal from a corresponding add route. One output port of each N×2 wavelength selective switch outputs an optical signal to a corresponding output route, while the other output port outputs an optical drop signal to a corresponding drop route.
