摘要： A method and apparatus for displaying a representative image corresponding to a shot of a duration within a specified range included in a plurality of shots of a moving image. The moving image includes a plurality of successive frames each having an image and each shot includes a plurality of the successive frames. In the invention a plurality of shot change points are sequentially detected from the moving image. The shot change points represent points between a pair of frames where images of a preceding shot and images of a succeeding shot have changed. Thereafter a detection is performed to determine whether a duration of a shot between a preceding shot change point and a succeeding shot change point is within the specified range. A representative image corresponding to the shot having a duration within the specified range is displayed along with duration time information representing the duration of the shot. A reduced image from the shot can be displayed as the representative image and the number of detected shots having a duration within the specified range can be reduced according to preset conditions.

摘要： A system for detecting a point of change between video shots from a video having a plurality of succeeding frames. The system includes video playback apparatus for playing a video chronologically one frame at a time, and a display for displaying the video. The a processing device for calculating a feature quantity of video image data for each frame, determining a first correlation coefficient between a feature quantity of a current frame and a feature quantity calculated from an immediately preceding frame and determining a second correlation coefficient between the feature quantity of the current frame and a feature quantity of at least two frames preceding the current frame, and indicating on the display a point of change between video shots when the first correlation coefficient and the second correlation coefficient are out of predetermined allowable ranges. The correlation coefficients of each frame is stored and can be used by the processing device to dynamically change a reference used for detecting a point of change between video shots. The change in the reference is performed based on the stored correlation coefficients or feature quantities of past frames.

摘要： A method and apparatus for displaying a representative image corresponding to a shot of a duration within a specified range included in a plurality of shots of a moving image. The moving image includes a plurality of successive frames each having an image and each shot includes a plurality of the successive frames. In the invention a plurality of shot change points are sequentially detected from the moving image. The shot change points represent points between a pair of frames where images of a preceding shot and images of a succeeding shot have changed. Thereafter a detection is performed to determine whether a duration of a shot between a preceding shot change point and a succeeding shot change point is within the specified range. A representative image corresponding to the shot having a duration within the specified range is displayed along with duration time information representing the duration of the shot. A reduced image from the shot can be displayed as the representative image and the number of detected shots having a duration within the specified range can be reduced according to preset conditions.

摘要： A method for detecting a contour of a given subject to be separated from images utilizing an image separating system. First, a plurality of candidate points which have been input by a user are displayed on a screen. A smooth curve which connects the plurality of candidate points is determined and is displayed on a display apparatus. The intensity of light on a straight line extending in a direction normal to each candidate point is determined. The position of the candidate point is corrected based upon the rate of change in the intensity of light which is determined for each candidate point. A smooth curve which passes the corrected candidate points is determined and is displayed on the display apparatus. The specified image, represented by the smooth curve connecting the corrected candidate points, is then separated from the rest of the image elements.

摘要： There is provided a method for detecting change points between cuts from motion picture images including a plurality of consecutive images. First of all, in this method, motion picture images which are the subject of detection of change point between cuts are inputted in a time series by taking a frame as the unit, and a predetermined feature quantity including a color histogram possessed by image data of said motion picture images is produced while taking a frame as the unit. A correlation coefficient with respect to feature quantity between the above described feature quantity and a feature quantity produced in an immediately preceding frame is then produced. Further, a change rate between the correlation coefficient of the current frame and a correlation coefficient produced for a frame preceding the current frame is produced. A time point whereat the change rate exceeds a predetermined allowable value is detected as a change point between cuts of the motion picture images.

摘要： A motion picture image editing method and in particular, a method for detecting such camera works as zooming and panning motions from a motion picture image stored in video tape or the like. In this method, a motion picture image constituted by a plurality of consecutive picture images on every frame basis, and on time series basis and on the basis of a correlation value for a displacement between the frames at a typical point determined for each of small blocks constituting the motion picture image, a motion vector for each of the small blocks is detected. Then a first motion parameter for estimation of a motion of a camera is generated with use of the motion vector detected at corresponding one of the typical points of first one of the frames. Or the first motion parameter for estimation of the motion of the camera is generated with use of a combination of the motion vector and a position vector at corresponding one of the typical points of a second frame inputted previous by one frame to the first frame. Further, the first motion parameters for the respective frames are found, the found first motion parameters are integrated until an integrated value exceeds a predetermined allowable value, and the integrated value is averaged through an integration period to calculate a second motion parameter for determination of the camera motion for the integration period. Finally, the camera motion is detected on the basis of the second motion parameter.
