    • A mobile device for a vehicle includes a receiving unit that receives transmission signals transmitted from individual transmitting antennas of a vehicle-side device; a control unit that determines distances to the individual transmitting antennas using the signal strengths of the received transmission signals; and a transmitting unit that transmits, to the vehicle-side device using wireless communication, data items indicating the distances. In a time period in which communication is not performed between the mobile device and the vehicle-side device, the signal strength of a received signal is measured, thereby obtaining a measurement value, and the measurement value is stored as a noise element in a memory. When communication between the mobile device and the vehicle-side device is performed, correction for noise is performed on the signal strengths of the transmission signals transmitted from the transmitting antennas, and the distances are determined.

    • There is provided a folding-type cellular phone capable of promptly performing a camera photographing in a short time after a housing is unfolded. A folding-type cellular phone 100 is configured to include an upper housing 3 which has a display section 2, a lower housing 5 which has a manipulation section 4, and a hinge section 6 which connects the upper housing 3 and the lower housing 5 to each other so as to fold and unfold the housings relative to each other. Moreover, the folding-type cellular phone 100 is provided with a button 7 for unfolding the upper housing 3 relative to the lower housing 5 up to a extent that the lower housing 5 can be manipulated. Additionally, the upper housing 3 includes a camera-side surface 9 that has a camera 8, and a display-side surface 10 which is disposed on the opposite side of the camera-side surface 9 and is used to display a photographed image, and a button 7 is disposed on an end surface of the hinge section. Additionally, the button 7 is supported by a support hole 11 which is provided to the end surface of the hinge section of the upper housing 3 so as to reciprocate through the support hole 11, and a protrusion-shaped contact 20 constituted by a conductive member 12 and a elastic member 13 is provided to the button 7 and brought into contact with a substrate-side contact portion 14 when the button 7 is pressed. With application of electricity therebetween for a predetermined time, the camera 8 is activated, and a photographing can be performed when the button 7 is pressed again.

    • In a moving picture decoding apparatus compliant with a coding standard, such as CABAC of H.264 and the like, for coding of a stream including arithmetic coded data, a first type variable length decoding section performs first variable length decoding including arithmetic decoding to input stream data to generate first stream data beforehand. The first recording control section records a key frame which is selected from the first stream data not needing arithmetic decoding and is necessary in special playback in a first recording region. In decoding, the recorded key frame not needing arithmetic decoding is used, a decoding time is reduced. Accordingly, even when a moving picture stream for special playback such as multiple-fold speed playback is performed, reverse playback and the like, as smooth special playback as known special playback of a moving picture signal which does not include arithmetic coded data can be achieved.

    • A vehicle-mounted device communication controller includes a vehicle-mounted unit for communicating with ID-registered portable units, a switch-detection mechanism for detecting pressing of an operation knob, a switch-operation restriction mechanism for restricting the rotation of the knob, and a door-opening/closure detection mechanism for detecting opening and closure of a door. Signals are exchanged between the vehicle-mounted unit and each portable unit, and a portable unit having succeeded in exchanging the signals is authenticated and released from the restriction. The vehicle-mounted unit includes a sending/receiving part, a controller, an authentication part, and an ID-storage part. When the door-opening/closure detection mechanism detects opening and then closure of the door, the controller performs the search by an all search method, and only when the latest authenticated ID is stored in the ID-storage part, performs the search by an urgent search method using a simple response signal which does not include an ID.
