摘要： A method of sizing a sleeve of electrically conductive material includes the steps of inserting the sleeve in a die having a seamless inner surface, positioning a magnetic coil inside the sleeve in the die, and sealing the die after the insertion of the sleeve and the positioning of the magnetic coil. A vacuum is created inside the die to avoid air pockets between the outer surface of the sleeve and the inner surface of the die and the magnetic coil is energized to create a magnetic field to expand the sleeve against the inner surface of the die. The process may also be used to form a composite sleeve having an outer layer of material unresponsive to the magnetic field and an inner layer of electrically conductive material.

One preferred embodiment of the fusing apparatus includes a journal member, the journal member including a shaft and a base with the shaft and the base being coupled. The fuser apparatus further includes a roller member having opposing ends, the roller member defining a shoulder near an end of the roller member. A retaining member is provided for retaining the base adjacent the shoulder so that at least a portion of the base is in substantial contact with the shoulder. Additionally, a heating device is provided to fuse the marking particles onto the support member when the support member with marking particles is brought into contact with the rolling member.

A flexible member having spaced, marks formed photographically thereon is mounted on the shaft of the photoconductive member to rotate in unison therewith. The detector prevents the member from deflecting to control the axial motion of the flexible member during the rotation thereof.
