摘要： A method and apparatus for conducting at least two concurrent conversation sessions is provided whereby a user may quickly switch between sessions. A graphical user interface may be provided comprising a first portion for conducting a first communication session and a second portion for immediately invoking a switch to a second communication session. In operation, the first portion of the graphical user interface is switched to immediately conduct said second communication session in response to a user input to invoke the switch. The second component can display notifications for concurrent session activities and a particular notification selected by a user to invoke the switch.

摘要： An improved handheld electronic device has a keypad that includes a plurality of different character sets selectively illuminable thereon. Different types of light and different mechanisms for delivering light provide the selective illumination of a particular character set. When a particular character set is illuminated, a corresponding character lookup table is active on the handheld electronic device whereby the processor determines the particular character or characters that were intended in an actuation of a key of the keypad.

When the message collection is displayed, it is displayed in accordance with the updated session placeholder.

Dynamic generation of the color palette matches the user interface to colors to provide flexible and appealing themes. A computer readable memory having recorded thereon instructions to carry out this method is also provided, as well as a device comprising such memory.
