    • Second digital information serving as copyright protection information can be stably and reliably read without any effect of a defect or pit missing on a disk-shaped recording medium. Second digital information is recorded onto a disk-shaped recording medium by wobbling a pit sequence recorded as a first signal. The second digital information is recorded so that a plurality of bits constituting the second digital information are allocated in a unit period of an identical sync signal contained in the first signal. During playback, the plurality of bits constituting the recorded second digital information are read a plurality of times every unit period of the sync signal, and information of the read bits is then integrated. Thus, information from a large number of wobbled pits across unit periods of a plurality of sync signals can be integrated to determine the bit values.

    • In an apparatus that converts (compresses) motion image data, the amount of motion of a subject in a block of motion image data is detected, and spatial decimation is performed in a mode in which sampling point positions are fixed or in a mode in which sampling point positions are shifted, depending on the detected amount of motion. When predicted image quality corresponding to the moving speed of a subject detected by analyzing blocks is lower than a predetermined threshold level, spatial decimation is performed in the mode in sampling point positions are shifted such that the moving speed of the subject is virtually changed to a value at which a super resolution effect occurs, thereby achieving data conversion without causing significant degradation in image quality.

    • An imaging method, a recording medium, and a program which are capable of processing imaging data of a high rate in a manner similar to that of a normal frame rate. Image data captured by a solid-state imaging element capable of performing imaging at a high resolution and a high frame rate is supplied to a memory control unit. The memory control unit, at the same time as writing the imaging data input from the imaging element in a frame memory, reads preceding frames of imaging data that are recorded on the frame memory, and sequentially respectively outputs them in parallel, as video image data items for each frame, to respective camera signal processing units. Then, in the camera signal processing units, a video output unit, a viewfinder output unit, codec units, and recording units, processing similar to that in the case of a frame rate that is ¼ the imaging frame rate is executed.
