摘要： In a video encoding method according to the present invention, an encoding mode controller 102 determines an encoding mode of each image on the occasion of encoding a moving picture consisting of a plurality of images, and a region partitioning unit 104 determines a region structural unit for partitioning the image into multiple regions, based on the encoding mode. A region determining unit 116 defines the regions on the basis of the region structural unit and information thereof is encoded. Then an encoder 105 compression-encodes pixel data included in the regions, in encoding units to generate compression-encoded data according to the encoding mode, and outputs the resultant data.

摘要： As an embodiment of a moving picture encoding apparatus, a moving picture type judgment section judges whether an input moving picture is a stereoscopic picture and, when the moving picture is a stereoscopic picture, a stereoscopic picture identifier is set to “1” and a moving picture rotation section rotates the moving picture clockwise by +90 degrees or −90 degrees. On the other hand, when the moving picture is not a stereoscopic picture, the stereoscopic picture identifier is set to “0” and the moving picture is not rotated. Then, a moving picture interlaced encoding section produces an encoded bit stream by performing interlaced encoding of the moving picture and a stereoscopic picture identifier encoding section produces encoded information by encoding the stereoscopic picture identifier. Further, a multiplexing section produces a multiplexed encoded bit stream by multiplexing the above-mentioned encoded bit stream and encoded information.

摘要： A moving picture encoding device includes a prediction signal generation method controller that determines, for each of a plurality of target blocks, a processing method. The processing method can be performed on one of a plurality of reference pictures for generating a prediction signal for each respective target block. The prediction signal generation method controller also determines a motion vector and a reference picture for each respective target block by performing motion prediction. The moving picture encoding device also includes a prediction signal generator and an encoder. The prediction signal generator generates the prediction signal for the respective target block by performing processing on the respective reference picture based on the respective processing method, and the encoder encodes information on the respective processing method on each respective reference picture together with a reference list number identifying the respective reference picture and motion vector information of every target block.

This substantializes the image encoding apparatus capable of achieving efficient entropy coding in the orthogonal transform of variable sizes.

摘要： A moving image encoding device measures a band of a target image to be encoded and a band of a reference image by a band analyzer, and generates band-related information representing these bands. A prediction signal generator generates a prediction signal such that the signal matches the band of the target image, from the reference image, based on the band-related information. A difference unit obtains a difference between the target image and the prediction signal to generate a differential signal. A converter and a quantizer each encode the differential signal to generate an encoded differential signal. An inverse quantizer and an inverter each decode the encoded differential signal to generate a decoded differential signal. An adder adds the prediction signal to the decoded differential signal to generate a reproduced image. An output terminal outputs at least the encoded differential signal and the band-related information.

摘要： An image decoding method, apparatus and program for decoding coded picture data is disclosed. In the method, apparatus and program, the coded picture data is entropy-decoded to derive four transform coefficient strings each comprising entropy-decoded sixteen (16) transform coefficients. The four transform coefficient strings are combined into an 8×8 block of entropy-decoded sixty four (64) transform coefficients by de-interleaving the four strings in such a manner as to select a lower frequency transform coefficient alternately from the four strings and arrange it in the 8×8 block in an order of a low frequency to a high frequency. An inverse orthogonal transform is then performed on the 8×8 block of the entropy-decoded sixty four (64) transform coefficients.

摘要： A variable-length encoder that feeds a Coded Block Pattern (CBP) as an input symbol to variable-length code output part. Coded symbol memory supplies CBPs in neighboring blocks as coding map table reference information to coding map table provider. Coding map table provider determines a coding map table used in coding of the CBP, based on these CBPs in the neighboring blocks, and provides a coding map table H4 to variable-length code output part. Variable-length coding table provider feeds a variable-length coding table to variable-length code output part. Then the coding target CBP is subjected to variable-length coding, and the resultant is outputted as coded data. This allows information source coding of coding symbols to be performed efficiently according to the coding condition and the property of image.
