摘要： A developing device includes a developer bearer, a magnetic field generator provided inside the developer bearer, a casing including an opening to partly expose a surface of the developer bearer, and a lateral end cover to cover an axial end portion of the exposed surface of the developer bearer. The lateral end cover includes a wide portion extending more to an axial inner side of the developer bearer than a downstream portion of the lateral end cover positioned downstream from the wide portion in a direction of rotation of the developer bearer. A downstream end of the wide portion is downstream from an upstream end of the development range in the direction of rotation of the developer bearer.

The cover member is formed with an opening at a developing position facing a photoconductive belt or similar image carrier, and ribs extending in the axial direction of a rotary shaft around which the developing sections are arranged. The cover member therefore deforms little and protects developing rollers and other constituents of the developing unit from damage while causing a minimum of toner to fly about.

摘要： A color printer for forming color toner images on a sheet of paper includes a photoconductive belt for bearing an electrostatic latent image thereon, a plurality of developing devices, and an intermediate transfer belt for forming composite toner images thereon. The intermediate transfer belt and the developing devices face each other across the photoconductive belt. The color printer further includes a front frame which is provided adjacent the intermediate transfer medium, a paper feed device which is provided in a lower position of the apparatus, and a paper output tray which is provided in a upper position of the apparatus. A paper transporting path between the paper feed device and the paper output tray is provided between the intermediate transfer belt and the front frame.

摘要： In an image forming apparatus, a revolver type developing device has a plurality of developing units and revolves to sequentially bring them to a developing position facing an image carrier on which a latent image is electrostatically formed. The revolver promotes easy replacement and safe handling of the developing units and can be accurately positioned relative to the body of the image forming apparatus. Despite that the revolver is miniature, it prevents developers from leaking or flying off from the developing units and contaminating the inside of the apparatus or being mixed with each other.
