    • An image forming apparatus is provided, which prevents occurrence of conveying malfunction or image failure due to variation of conveying speed caused by endurance of a fixing unit or a conveying unit, variation of using environment, or a type of a recording material. The image forming apparatus includes: a fixing unit for heating and fixing a toner image on a recording sheet (P); a secondary transferring portion for conveying the recording sheet (P) to the fixing unit; a loop sensor for detecting a degree of a loop of the recording sheet (P) generated according to a speed difference between a conveying speed of the fixing unit and a conveying speed of the secondary transferring portion; a CPU for controlling the conveying speed of the fixing unit; a fixing deliver sensor for detecting a used amount of the fixing unit; and an EEPROM for storing information on the used amount of the fixing unit detected by the fixing deliver sensor. The CPU controls the conveying speed of the fixing unit based on the information of the used amount of the fixing unit stored in the EEPROM and a detection result of the loop sensor.

Consequently, upon failure of an IP transmission path, the IP transmission path can be changed without interruption of voice and disconnection of a call at the time of failure.

    • A method for welding by a magnetically driven arc, which comprises placing two objects of welding in butt formation with a small gap between the end edges thereof to form a welding line; parallelly connecting a first electric circuit comprising the two objects of welding and a cable arranged on the surface side of the two objects of welding and a second electric circuit comprising the two objects of welding and another cable arranged on the back side of the two objects of welding to a welding power source; flowing a welding current through the first and second electric circuits to produce an arc in the small gap; moving the arc along the welding line under the effect of an electromagnetic force in the direction of the welding line, the electromagnetic force being produced by the magnetic flux of magnetizing coils provided near the end edges of the two objects of welding and welding current flowing through the arc; and changing the amount of welding current flowing through the first and second electric circuits to control the electromagnetic force in the thickness direction of the two objects of welding; thereby continuously moving the arc in the thickness direction of the two objects of welding, thus uniformly heating the end edge of the two objects of welding to a welding temperature by the heat of the moving arc.

    • An image forming apparatus includes an image former for forming an unfixed toner image on a recording material, and a fixer for fixing the unfixed toner image on the recording material. The fixer includes a rotatable member for forming a fixing nip for nipping and feeding the recording material, and a cleaner, movable toward and away from the rotatable member, for cleaning the rotatable member. The apparatus is operable in a blankless image formation mode for forming the toner image without a blank at least at one of a leading end and a trailing end of the recording material. The cleaner contacts the rotatable member when a portion of the rotatable member in a blankless range at the leading end or the trailing end of the recording material reaches a position where the portion opposes the cleaner.
