    • Disclosed is a method for switching broadcasting channels in a digital broadcasting reception apparatus employing a time division multiplexing scheme. The method includes receiving and demodulating digital broadcasting data according to at least one broadcasting channel serviced in a frequency band used by the broadcasting station when the broadcasting channel of a predetermined broadcasting station is selected, outputting the digital broadcasting data of the selected broadcasting channel among the demodulated digital broadcasting data according to the broadcasting channels, storing digital broadcasting data according to the broadcasting channels except the selected broadcasting channel, and when there is a request for switching one of the broadcasting channels serviced by the broadcasting station, retrieving and outputting the digital broadcasting data of the requested broadcasting channel among the stored data. Since it is possible to quickly switch broadcasting channels in the apparatus during output of the digital broadcasting, the convenience for users is improved.

    • An apparatus and method for a keypad of a portable terminal are provided. The keypad apparatus includes a top unit, a bottom unit, and a control unit. The top unit has numerals and characters printed on the top of the keypad. The bottom unit includes a keypad connection unit having a power supply unit, a ground region, a divided connection unit and a common connection unit connected when the numeral or character of the keypad is pressed. The control unit is connected to the divided connection unit and the common connection unit to receive a generated signal according to the press of the numeral or character and perform a corresponding function by mapping to a preset key value.

    • Provided is an antenna apparatus for a portable terminal including a first antenna pattern, and a second antenna pattern formed to correspond to the first antenna pattern, so that the second antenna provides a capacitive coupling along with the first pattern, thereby configuring a divergent type antenna with the second antenna pattern. The antenna apparatus configured in this manner comprises a pair of meander line antennas, whereby the antenna apparatus can efficiently suppress the generation of noise while being easily housed within the terminal.     • A device and method are provided for preventing the damage of a disk by stopping the operation of a hard disk drive (HDD) if vibration is exerted on a hard-disk mobile communication terminal or free falling thereof occurs. The hard-disk mobile communication terminal stops the operation of a HDD by detecting the vibration and/or impact being exerted thereon through a sensor, if the exerted vibration and/or impact exceed a predetermined level.
