摘要： A reciever for receiving a CDMA communication signal that is wirelessly transmitted includes a system for correcting phase errors in an information signal which has been transmitted. The correction system comprises circuitry for generating a mixing signal and for combining the mixing signal with said information signal to produce a correction signal. An analyzer analyzes the phase of said correction signal and generates an error signal based on the deviation of the analyzed phase from a reference phase. A bandwidth controller which recursively adjusts the phase of the correction signal such that the phase of said correction signal is substantially equal to said reference phase. The bandwidth controller then selects a bandwidth within an adjustable range based on the correction signal, estimates an offset by interrogating the error signal, and modifies said correction signal by the offset.

摘要： A code division multiple access communication system transmits a pilot and traffic signal over a shared spectrum. The pilot and traffic signal have an associated code. Signals are received over the shared spectrum. The received signals are sampled. The samples are delayed to produce a window. The window has evenly time spaced samples. Each window sample is despread with a pilot code. A weight for each despread pilot code window sample is determined using an adaptive algorithm. Each window sample is despread with a traffic code. Each despread traffic code window sample is weighted with a corresponding weight of the determined weights. The despread traffic code window sample are combined as data of the traffic signal.

摘要： The invention provides for transmission and reception of a data signal using a plurality of transmitting antennas. Each antenna transmits a different reference signal having a pseudo random chip code sequence. A receiver filters each transmitted reference signal using that reference signal's chip code. The filtered reference signals are weighted and combined. Each reference signal's weight is adaptively adjusted in part on a signal quality of the combined signal. A data signal is transmitted such that different spread spectrum versions of the data signal are transmitted from each transmitting antenna. Each version having a different chip code identifier. Upon reception, each version is filtered with its associated chip code. The filtered versions are weighted in accordance with the adjusted weights associated with the reference signal of the respective antenna.

摘要： A digital spread spectrum communication system employing pilot-aided coherent multipath demodulation effects a substantial reduction in global-pilot and assigned-pilot overheads. The system and method uses a QPSK-modulated data signal whereby the modulated data is removed and the recovered carrier is used for channel amplitude and phase estimation. The resulting signal has no data modulation and is used as a pseudo-pilot signal. In conjunction with the pseudo-pilot signal, a multiple-input phase-locked loop is employed further eliminating errors due to carrier-offset by using a plurality of pseudo-pilot signals. A pilot signal is required to resolve absolute phase ambiguity, but at a greatly reduced magnitude.

摘要： A continuously adjusted bandwidth phase-locked loop is used by a B-CDMA.TM. receiver to correct for any deviation, or offset, that may exist between the received radio frequency (RF) carrier signal and the frequency of the first stage LO that converts the received RF carrier signal to an intermediate frequency (IF). The PLL in the receiver includes a filter with an adjustable bandwidth. A wider bandwidth is used during initial acquisition of the received signal. After the PLL has acquired the received carrier signal using the wider bandwidth, the bandwidth of the filter is gradually narrowed to provide a low steady-state error.

摘要： A code division multiple access communication system has a base station with a plurality of transmitting antennas. From each transmitting antenna of the base station, a pilot signal is transmitted having a different chip sequence than the other transmitting antenna. At a user equipment, the transmitted pilot signals are received from each transmitting antenna. A weight adjustment is derived in response to the received transmitted pilot signals. The user equipment transmits the weight adjustment to the base station. The transmitted weight adjustment is received from the user equipment. A data signal is processed to produce a plurality of versions of the data signal. At least a portion of each processed data signal has a different chip sequence than the other processed data signal version. At least one processed data signal version is weighted by a weight value adjusted in response to the received transmitted weight adjustment. From each transmitting antenna, a different one of the data signal versions is transmitted and the transmitted data signal versions are received at the user equipment.
