摘要： Systems and methods for dynamically allocating bandwidth in a digital broadband delivery system are disclosed. One example method includes receiving information describing subscriber requests for content delivery, receiving bandwidth allocation criteria, and processing the information describing subscriber requests and the bandwidth allocation criteria according to a statistical model. The bandwidth allocation criteria comprise at least one of subscriber pricing information, content delivery mode information, and program content information. The processing produces a bandwidth allocation schedule in which one of a plurality of content delivery modes is assigned to each of a plurality of digital transmission channels for each of a plurality of time periods.

摘要： The present invention comprises customizable, multimedia messaging over a subscriber television system, such as a cable or satellite system, utilizing a service independent framework. The present invention comprises a multimedia messaging (MMM) server generally located at a headend of a cable or satellite system, and an MMM client at a communications terminal located remotely with respect to the MMM server. A service provider or operator defines a message configuration that is utilized to present the message content to one or more subscribers. The message configuration includes parameters that control the presentation of the message content. The MMM server receives an MMM request from a service application, and in response thereto, generates an MMM request which is sent to the communications terminal, and more particularly, to the MMM client. The MMM client processes the MMM request, including the retrieval of any message content or the message configuration. The MMM client then presents the message to the subscriber. Since the MMM server and MMM client are platform independent, any number of different services may send uniquely generated and uniquely designed messages for presentation to a subscriber(s).

One system embodiment, among others, comprises a memory with logic, and a processor configured with the logic to receive a compressed video stream that includes a picture having chroma samples and luma samples, receive in said compressed video stream a parameter set associated with the picture, receive auxiliary chroma information in said parameter set, said auxiliary chroma information corresponding to at least a portion of the chroma samples in the picture, said chroma information further corresponding to a phase shift, wherein said phase shift corresponds to a relative location of each chroma sample in said at least a portion of the chroma samples in the picture, decompress the received compressed video stream, determine the phase shift according to a value of the received auxiliary chroma information, and process the at least a portion of the chroma samples in the picture according to the determined phase shift. Other embodiments for signaling chroma information for a picture in a compressed video stream are included herein.

One system embodiment, among others, comprises a memory with logic, and a processor configured with the logic to provide a compressed video stream that includes a picture having chroma samples and luma samples, and provide in the compressed video stream a flag for signaling information corresponding to the location of the chroma samples in relation to the luma samples in the picture, wherein a first defined flag value indicates default locations of the chroma samples in relation to the luma samples in the picture, wherein a second defined flag value indicates a presence in the compressed video stream of auxiliary chroma information corresponding to relative locations of the chroma samples to the luma samples in the picture, and wherein the number of chroma samples in the picture implied by the first defined flag value is equal to the number of chroma samples in the picture implied by the second defined flag value. Other embodiments for signaling chroma information for a picture in a compressed video stream are included herein.
