    • A rod casing for activating vertically arranged latch bolts, the casing and latch bolts arranged in an active stile of a door and engageable to a door frame. The rod casing provides a vertically slidable actuator cam engageable by both a lock/unlock actuator and a delatch or dogging actuator. The lock/unlock actuator and the delatch actuator are rotatably mounted upon a spindle piece which itself is rotatable by a user such as by a key-activated lock cylinder. The lock/unlock actuator when rotated slidingly abuts the actuator cam and drives the actuator cam vertically upward to cause unlatching of the latch bolts. The delatch actuator, upon rotation of the spindle piece in an opposite direction underlies the actuator cam and dogs the actuator cam in its vertically risen position. To deactivate the delatch actuator, the lock/unlock actuator can be rotated to interfere and displace the delatch actuator to release the actuator cam from the dogging position. The actuator cam is composed of a resilient material to allow the delatch actuator to engage the actuator cam in a spring-like or resiliently compressible fashion to help hold the actuator cam in its dogging position.

    • An electronic circuit for receiving input electrical power at a lower frequency and for energizing a load at a higher frequency. The electronic circuit has a rectifier for rectifying the input electrical power received on an input thereof and a pre-regulator for changing the rectified AC voltage provided by the rectifier to a source voltage. The electronic circuit further has a non-resonant inverter for providing electrical power at the high frequency to the load and includes first and second switches and is connected to the pre-regulator and to the load circuit. A logic circuit is responsive to a sensed signal representing only current flowing in the first and second switches for operating the first and second switches. The frequency of current in the load circuit varies for any substantial change in the magnitude of the source voltage, for any change in load impedance, and for any change in a set point value. A device for setting the set point value is connected to the logic circuit. Finally, a reactance circuit is provided and connected in circuit with the load. The peak amplitude of current in the load has a peak value determined by the set point value. The device for setting the set point value can be a replaceable element having a predetermined relationship to the type of load connected to the electronic circuit or to the desired light output level. Also, the device for setting the set point value can be a variable element for selecting the set point value from a range of set point values and thereby changing the peak amplitude of current in the load. The variable element can also be controlled by a signal originating remotely from the logic circuit in the ballast.

    • A plaster frame or base for recessed lighting fixtures has hanger bar receiving corners which are bendable to accommodate parallel or perpendicular axis orientation relative to ceiling joists or suspension grids. The frame spans the space between a pair of hanger bars and its corners have a plurality of mountings to accommodate different types of hanger bar such as flat horizontal, flat vertical, and adjustable interlocking hanger bars. The frame is preferably a rectangular metal plate with a flat base having upstanding side flanges, a fixture receiving aperture through the base between the flanges having a depending skirt or collar to surround and mount the fixture, mountings on the base for a junction box adjacent the aperture, and bendable hanger bar securing corners. The plate is sufficiently narrow to fit through the conventional ceiling aperture for the fixture.

    • A paint roller guard assembly includes a paint shield adapted to support a paint roller, and a separate handle having a solid threaded mounting end which is received in a threaded connector formed on a side wall of the paint shield to attach the handle to the paint shield during use of the paint guard assembly for painting. The handle is removable from the paint shield to permit a water hose to be connected to the paint shield to supply water under pressure which is discharged through an elongated slot formed through the side wall of the paint shield to impact the paint roller causing it to rotate and simultaneously wash residual paint from the paint roller.
