摘要： An optical system focusses a light image of a linear portion of an original document onto a rotating photoconductive drum. The optical system scans the document so as to progressively form an electrostatic image on the drum. A scanning linear photosensor array is disposed such that the light image is incident thereon. Maximum and minimum output levels of the array are sensed, and the illumination intensity of the document and a developing bias voltage are controlled as functions thereof.

摘要： An apparatus for controlling the toner concentration of a dry developer, including a magnetic carrier and a non-magnetic toner, used in a magnetic brush developing system. In view of that the system includes an inherent magnetic means and an inherent circulation path through a portion of which a steady stream of the developer is established during its operation, a means such as a Hall element is set at a position near to the steady stream portion of the developer and in the atmosphere for detecting the magnitude of a leakage magnetic flux from the portion which is emanated from said magnetic means to determine the value of toner concentration of the developer in the system through analyzing. Thereupon, a supply of toner to the system is automatically controlled based on the determined value.

摘要： A photosensitive member for use in an electrophotographic apparatus in which a bias potential is applied to the member during development. The member comprises a conductive support having at least one support edge and a photosensitive layer formed on the surface of the support and extending up to a point substantially coincident with the support edge. A tapered surface is formed at the extremity of the photosensitive layer adjacent to each support edge which extends from the top of the photosensitive layer to the support edge. The maximum angle between a tangent of the tapered surface and the surface of the conductive support is less then 45.degree. thereby preventing an edge effect by which a background smearing in the form of a black band may appear on copied paper obtained. Such a tapered surface can be easily formed through a vaporizing technique with a special masking in accordance with the present invention.

摘要： The apparatus is for heat-fixing a toner image onto a support sheet in which the fixing of toner image is effected through both infrared radiation and direct contact with a heated surface of fixing roller in succession. An endless belt, having a transparency for infrared and trained over a pair of rollers, is disposed within a heat insulating casing, an upper run of the belt defining a path of movement of a toner image bearing support sheet to be fixed. An infrared radiator is disposed beneath the upper run of belt while a reflecting plate is disposed at the opposite side of the belt from the radiator with respect to the path. A fixing roller is disposed downstream of the radiator along the path for completing the fixing.

Performing quality heat treatment including a quenching step and a tempering step to the low alloy steel ingot to obtain a material, which has a grain size number of from 3 to 7 and is free from pro-eutectoid ferrite in a metallographic structure thereof, and which has a tensile strength of from 760 to 860 MPa and a fracture appearance transition temperature of not higher than 40° C.

摘要： Various embodiments include photonic bandgap fibers (PBGF). Some PBGF embodiments have a hollow core (HC) and may have a square lattice (SQL). In various embodiments, SQL PBGF can have a cladding region including 2-10 layers of air-holes. In various embodiments, an HC SQL PBGF can be configured to provide a relative wavelength transmission window Δλ/λc larger than about 0.35 and a minimum transmission loss in a range from about 70 dB/km to about 0.1 dB/km. In some embodiments, the HC SQL PBGF can be a polarization maintaining fiber. Methods of fabricating PBGF are also disclosed along with some examples of fabricated fibers. Various applications of PBGF are also described.
