    • An optical scanner includes a light source, an optical coupler, an optical line image unit, a deflector, and an optical scanning unit. The optical scanning unit includes scanning lenses that guide the beams to a surface to be scanned. A surface on the deflector side of the scanning lens closest to a deflection reflecting surface has a negative power in a vertical scanning direction, and is a special toric surface in which a radius of curvature in a vertical scanning changes from an optical axis of the lens surface toward a periphery of the horizontal scanning direction. An F number of the beams toward the surface to be scanned of the scanning lens in the vertical scanning direction is larger in a peripheral part than in a central part in an effective scanning width.

    • An optical scanning apparatus for optically scanning a surface to be scanned at a constant velocity includes a light source for emitting a light flux, a first optical lens system for coupling the light flux emitted by the light source to a subsequent optical lens system, a second optical lens system for forming the light flux received from the first optical lens system into a line image extending in a direction corresponding to a main scanning direction for the surface to be scanned, an optical deflector for deflecting the light flux formed as the line image via a deflecting reflective plane thereof, which is located near where the line image is formed, and a third optical lens system for condensing the deflected light flux as an optical beam spot on the surface to be scanned. The second optical lens system includes at least one plastic lens and one glass lens, and a surface of the at least one plastic lens of the second optical lens system is configured such that a change in a curvature of field in directions corresponding to the main scanning direction and the sub scanning direction, respectively, which is caused by a change in the plastic lens of the third optical lens system due to changes in an operating temperature, is corrected and compensated.

    • An object of the present invention is to avoid such a problem that white dropouts and the Moire phenomenon occur in a filter-processed image. A filter unit employed in an image processing apparatus provided within a copying machine first selects as a pixel of interest any one of a plurality of reversed density pixels which constitute an image to be processed. Next, the filter unit uses density of this interest pixel before being corrected, density of pixels located at peripheral portions of this interest pixel, and a predetermined filter coefficient so as to calculate a weighted average value for each of the density. Finally, the filter unit compares the density of this interest pixel before being corrected with the weighted average values to output as a corrected density of this interest pixel, such a value approximated to a density equivalent to a black level. Furthermore, the filter unit compares the density of the interest pixel before being corrected with the predetermined reference density and, only when the density before being corrected is less than the reference density, it outputs the above-described weighted average value as the corrected density of this interest pixel irrespect to such a large/small relationship between the density before being corrected and the weighted average value.

    • In an a.c. generator for vehicles, an output terminal connected to a rectifier circuit unit has a seat surface on which an electric cable for connection with a storage battery is seated. The seat surface is positioned outside a rear cover and an insulating member in the longitudinal direction of the output terminal. The electric cable is tightened to the seat surface by a nut engaged with the output terminal, while holding the electric cable from contacting the insulating member. Thus, the insulating member is restricted from being deformed and the nut is restricted from loosening even when the insulating member contracts.
    • 在a.c.
