摘要： An electric motor controller for a steering device that can apply an appropriate steering force to a steering wheel according to running conditions. An electric power steering controller of the present invention includes a steering shaft reaction force torque sensor for detecting a reaction force torque of a steering system, a superimposed reaction force torque calculating unit for multiplying a steering angle detected by the steering angle sensor by a gain to calculate a superimposed reaction force torque in the return direction of the steering wheel, and a control unit for controlling the gain so that the superimposed reaction force torque is reduced when a reaction force torque of the steering system is increased and the superimposed reaction force torque is increased when a reaction force torque of the steering system is decreased.

摘要： The present invention relates to a starch ester having short- and long-chain acyl groups wherein hydrogens in reactive hydroxyl groups in the same starch molecule have been replaced by C2-4 short-chain acyl groups and C6-18 long-chain acyl groups. The degree of substitution by the short- and long-chain acyl groups are regulated so as to make the starch ester thermo-plasticized and moldable even in the absence of a plasticizer. Accordingly, the starch ester of the present invention can be used as a biodegradable thermoplastic plastic material which can be thermo-plasticized in the absence of a plasticizer.

摘要： An apparatus for determining an occupant's posture is provided which includes a sensor having at least one pair of linear photosensor arrays each comprising a plurality of photosensor elements, for forming an image of an occupant, a distance measurement processor that derives distance distributions in fields of view monitored by the linear photosensor arrays, from the image of the occupant formed by the sensor, and an occupant discrimination processor that compares patterns of the distance distributions with model patterns of distance distributions preliminarily stored in the processor, so as to determine the presence and posture of the occupant. The linear fields of view are set to extend in a substantially horizontal direction with respect to the occupant, and the occupant discrimination processor first examines at least one of symmetry of the distance distribution pattern in each field of view, concave or convex shape of the pattern, degree of similarity in variations in the distance distribution patterns between adjacent fields of view, and a distribution of distances measured at a particular position of the fields of view, and then determines the posture of the occupant by comparing the patterns of the distance distributions actually measured, with a group of model patterns that is selected in advance depending upon the result of the examination.

摘要： The present invention detects not only the presence of an occupant, but also his/her posture based on the distance distribution of each portion of the occupant within each of monitor fields of view, which distance distribution is obtained by means of a single-stage or multistage occupant sensor. The result of the detection can be used in controlling inflation of an air bag, so as to avoid an accident that might otherwise occur upon inflation of the air bag, thus assuring increased safety and reliability. Since the acceleration can be calculated by arithmetic processing of the output of the distance sensor, there is no particular need to provide an exclusive acceleration sensor. Further, an optical system including the distance sensor may be designed so that the sensor can also detect an occupant whose part of the body is thrust out of automobile.

摘要： A starch derivative which, when incorporated with no or only a little plasticizer, yields moldings having good flexibility, toughness, and water-relating properties for practical use is an esterified, polyester-grafted starch which is formed by esterifying starch and grafting the starch with polyester. The esterification involves the introduction of one or more acyl groups consisting of saturated or unsaturated aliphatic acid groups or aromatic carboxylic acid groups having 2 to 18 carbon atoms and the polyester is one which is formed from one or more 4- to 12-membered lactones by ring-opening polymerization, with the terminal hydroxyl groups being almost completely blocked by esterification.
