    • A service disclosure device receives a search message transmitted from a service using device, and if the ID of the service using device is stored in a memory, transmits a response message indicating a service to be disclosed to the service using device. The service disclosure device displays information about the service using device on a display, and if a permission to disclose the service to the service using device is input, registers the ID of the service using device in the memory. After a response limit to the search message has expired, the service disclosure device transmits a notification message indicating the service to be disclosed to the service using device.

    • A cloud computing environment provides the ability to deploy a web application that has been developed using one of a plurality of application frameworks and is configured to execute within one of a plurality of runtime environments. The cloud computing environment receives the web application in a package compatible with the runtime environment and dynamically binds available services by appropriately inserting service provisioning data (e.g., service network address, login credentials, etc.) into the package. The cloud computing environment then packages an instance of the runtime environment, a start script and the package into a web application deployment package, which is then transmitted to an application (e.g., container virtual machine, etc.). The application container unpacks the web application deployment package, installs the runtime environment, loads the web application package into the runtime environment and starts the start script, thereby deploying the web application in the application container.

    • A redirection service may be used to direct a user's request to specific providers of various types of services. When a user requests a web service (e.g., mapping, search, bookmarks, weather reports, etc.), the request is received by a redirection service. The redirection service identifies a provider of the service, and issues a redirect instruction to the user's browser that redirects the browser to the identified service provider. The service provider may be determined by user selection, by default, or by any other mechanism. In one example, the user's request for a service comes by selecting a link included in a web page. In another example, a user issues a direct request for the service in the form of a command. The command may be entered, in one example, through a browser or desktop search box.

    • A background service launcher is disclosed that provides dynamic access to services required by clients. Clients access services by a single unified pathname space and interface environment. When a client tries to open a service, if the service is running it will receive the request immediately, however when the service is not running the background service launcher having previously registered associated paths, receive the client request, start the background service, and then redirect the client to it. The ability to dynamically launch services enables resources to be accessed such as cloud based filesystems by being dynamically mounted and accessible to clients in the operating system.
