    • A panoramic device includes a base member having a flat lower surface suitable to be supported by a tripod. A clamp member has a flat upper surface rotatably interconnected within a single plane of rotation with the base that includes a first rotatable knob to selectively inhibit the rotation of the clamp member with respect to the base. The flat upper surface includes a central region that is at a different elevation than another portion of the flat upper surface. The clamp includes a pair of opposed surfaces suitable to detachably secure a camera thereto. The one of the opposed surfaces is maintained in a fixed relationship with respect to the clamp member. The other one of the opposed surfaces is in a movable relationship with respect to the clamp member using a second rotatable knob. The first knob and the second knob are rotatably connected with respect to one another. The panoramic device includes a level bubble visible on an upper surface at a location exterior to the central region of the clamp.

    • The present invention provides mathematically accurate image processing algorithms for extracting natural looking panoramic images and distortion-free rectilinear images from images acquired using a camera equipped with a wide-angle lens which is rotationally symmetric about an optical axis and devices implementing such algorithms. Imaging systems using this method can be used not only in security•surveillance applications for indoor and outdoor environments, but also in diverse areas such as video phone for apartment entrance door, rear view camera for vehicles, visual sensor for unmanned aerial vehicles and robots, camera phone, PC camera, and broadcasting camera. Also, it can be used to obtain panoramic or rectilinear photographs using a digital camera.

    • A panoramic camera comprising at least one reflector and an image sensor. The camera has an integral annular to rectangular image conversion module to convert annular images received on the image sensor. The camera is remotely controllable to enable a remote user to select a portion of the resulting rectangular image or change optical properties such as exposure time using a mobile telephone having a browser interface and lacking annular to rectangular image conversion software. Images or video are automatically uploadable to an internet server. Still or video image can be encrypted, along with the measured location at which the still or video images were taken. An integral stand enables the panoramic camera to better take images of rooms when resting on the floor.

    • An improved camera for the acquisition of panoramic images is disclosed. The camera comprises a convex photochromic reflector directed towards an image capture element. Multiple incoming light sensors around the perimeter of the camera detect strong incoming light and cause the activation of a corresponding UV light. The UV light in turn activates the photochromic effect on a particular region of the photochromic reflector that corresponds to an area of strong incident light. The photochromic reflector then darkens in that area, providing compensation for a scene that has a wide range of lighting conditions. Therefore, the camera compensates for strong lighting indoors as well as outdoors.

    • Disclosed is a method of photographing a panoramic image, the method including the steps of: checking if a configuration of each scene constituting the panoramic image is arbitrarily set whenever each scene is photographed; outputting a photographic guide screen on a preview screen, the photographic guide screen overlappingly displaying a guide image of a previously photographed scene and displaying an indicator indicative of a position of a current scene; storing a corresponding photographed scene as a correspondingly numbered scene when a shutter key is input during the outputting of the photographic guide screen; and checking if a predetermined direction key or a completion key is input, determining that all scenes are photographed, when the completion key is input, and considering the frame to extend in an up-and-down direction or a right-and-left direction and proceeding to the step of outputting the photographic guide screen, when the direction key is input.
