The print driver therefore maintains a page buffer which correspondingly contains a nedium-resolution contone layer and a high resolution black layer. It is therefore necessary to determine where an object being placed on the contone layer obscures something on the black layer. When an obscuration occurs the obscured black pixels are composited with the contone layer and removed from the black layer.

摘要： The present invention relates to a method of printing using dots of ink discharged from nozzles to form the image. To ensure quality and efficiency of printing, a feed back mechanism from the printhead is used, to provide real time readings on various parameters of the printhead. These readings are compared to a pulse parameter table, to adjust the parameter of the pulse to ensure quality and efficiency of the printing. The temperature of the printhead is sensed to allow the timing of the firing pulses to be adjusted to take into consideration the viscosity of the ink. The amount of voltage available to the pulse actuator can be sensed so that the pulse width can be adjusted to compensate for a flat battery or high voltage source. The resistivity of the actuator heater can be sensed so as to adjust the pulse widths to maintain a constant energy irrespective of the heater resistivity.

A transporting device provides relative movement between the sheet printing media and a first print head. A series of sheet printing media are presented to the first print head for printing in sequence. The first print head prints a first sub-image of at least one set of monochromatic mutually interstitially printed sub-images of a first image onto a first sheet of printing medium of the series in one pass. A sub-image of an image is printed in succession on each remaining one of the series of sheet printing media followed by printing a further sub-image of the at least one set of monochromatic mutually interstitially printed sub-images of the first image onto the first sheet printing medium.

摘要： The present invention relates to a modular printhead for a color printer. The printhead includes a plurality of nozzles each of which has an ink supply port, an ink deposition port and a firing control port to receive signals to cause deposition of an ink dot from the deposition port (firing) during a firing cycle of the printhead. The nozzles of the printhead are arranged in groups, or pods, with the ink supply ports of the nozzles of each pod connected to a common ink supply line. The nozzles of each pod are arranged in rows (the rows extend in the direction across the page to be printed), and the rows of nozzles are offset from each other so that the nozzles of each row deposit dots onto different lines if fired simultaneously. Pods of each different color are arranged together into operating groups in which selected mutually exclusive sub-groups of nozzles have their firing control ports gated to enable them to be fired simultaneously at predetermined phases of a firing cycle. Methods of loading and printing are also claimed.
