摘要： An optical pickup includes a diffraction grating partitioned into three areas, in which the phase of periodic grating groove structure in an area is successively shifted from that in the adjacent area by 90°. In the generation of a differential push-pull signal, an amplification factor K for sub push-pull signals is varied depending on the type of the optical disk. By such composition of the optical pickup, amplitude deterioration of the tracking error signal accompanying displacement of the object lens is reduced.

The laser driving current of the laser driver is monitored to control the power source of the laser driver such that the power consumed by the headroom is possibly reduced while maintaining the current drive characteristic of the headroom for the monitored current.

摘要： This invention provides a Raman amplification method and the like having a structure which can properly adjust a pumping light power in accordance with a loss change in signal light and can easily flatten a gain spectrum. In the Raman amplification method according to this invention, part of Raman-amplified propagating light is branched by an optical branching device. Of the branched propagating light, at least light components having two predetermined wavelengths are demultiplexed by an optical demultiplexer. The powers of the light components having the two wavelengths are detected. The amounts of loss changes in the light components having the two wavelengths and the slope of an approximate line representing the correlation between the wavelength and the amount of loss change are obtained on the basis of these powers. The optical power of each pumping channel output from an associated one of a plurality of pumping light sources included in a Raman amplification pumping unit is adjusted on the basis of the amount of loss change and the slope of the approximate line.

摘要： An information processing apparatus and method is disclosed wherein slideshow images can be reproduced for an arbitrary period of time. A scaling coefficient calculation section divides a slideshow reproduction time period by a selected effect total time period to calculate the ratio between them as a scaling coefficient and supplies the calculated scaling coefficient to a correction section. The correction section corrects the reproduction time period of each effect of a deletion result supplied from a deletion candidate deletion section or each selected effect supplied from an effect selection section using the scaling coefficient supplied from the scaling coefficient calculation section so as to make the total reproduction time period of the selected effects coincide with a slideshow reproduction time period. The invention can be applied to a personal computer or the like which can handle still pictures.
