    • The present invention is a system that utilizes different filtering techniques to provide accurate detection of changes in the ST segment of an electrogram as detected by an implanted cardiosaver system, which ST segment changes are indicative of coronary ischemia. To accurately detect changes in the ST segment of the electrogram, the cardiosaver system partitions electrograms into different partition series, preferably including the QRS and ST segments, respectively. These partition series are then passed through different analog or digital high pass filters. An alternate embodiment involves low pass filtering the electrogram and then subtracting off the filtered signal, which represents baseline wander, from the electrogram. The system also includes both implanted and external portions that provide a patient alarm if coronary ischemia is sensed.

    • This invention relates to an apparatus and method for assessing a subject's hearing by recording steady-state auditory evoked responses. The apparatus generates a steady-state auditory evoked potential stimulus, presents the stimulus to the subject, senses potentials while simultaneously presenting the stimulus and determines whether the sensed potentials contain responses to the stimulus. The stimulus may include an optimum vector combined amplitude modulation and frequency modulation signal adjusted to evoke responses with increased amplitudes, an independent amplitude modulation and frequency modulation signal and a signal whose envelope is modulated by an exponential modulation signal. The apparatus is also adapted to reduce noise in the sensed potentials by employing sample weighted averaging. The apparatus is also adapted to detect responses in the sensed potentials via the Phase weighted T-test or Phase zone technique. The apparatus may further perform a number of objective audiological tests including latency tests, AM/FM discrimination tests, rate sensitivity tests, aided hearing tests, depth sensitivity tests, supra-threshold tests and auditory threshold tests. The apparatus is further adapted to perform multi-modality testing in which more than one sensory modality of the subject is tested simultaneously.

    • A portable EEG (electroencephalograph) instrument, especially for use in emergencies and brain assessments in physicians' offices, detects and amplifies brain waves and converts them into digital data for analysis by comparison with data from normal groups. In one embodiment, the EEG electrodes are in a headband which broadcasts the data, by radio or cellular phone, to a local receiver for re-transmission and/or analysis. In another embodiment, the subject is stimulated in two modes, i.e., aural and sensory, at two different frequencies to provide the subject's EPs (Evoked Potentials), assessing transmission through the brainstem and thalamus.
