    • A scoop device comprises a plurality of spring fingers, a string threaded through the ends of said fingers so as to form a polygon-shaped loop, and means for bringing the finger ends together by pulling the string to tighten the loop, such pulling being preferably effected by the upward movement of a sliding member to which is attached a pair of string segments threaded through one of said finger ends. A disposable bag placed between the spread spring fingers with its opening folded over said loop may then be placed over refuse which is scooped up by tightening the loop. The sliding member can then be kept locked in its uppermost position, corresponding to loop closure, and thereafter released to dispose of the bag with its contents. The same device, with or without a bag, may be used to pick up and throw a ball in a new type of sport.

    • A muzzle particularly adapted for use with cats retains the jaws of the animal while covering the eyes for calming the animal. The muzzle consists of an integral piece of a soft material formed into a truncated cone, with a small top opening and a larger bottom opening. The cone, when positioned on the animal, surrounds the face of the animal with the small opening allowing the animal to breathe while restraining its jaws. The large bottom opening surrounds the head of the animal while covering its eyes. The muzzle is held in position by straps which encircle the head of the animal to selectively position the muzzle.

    • Air inlets are disposed in the anterior surface of a racing muzzle for a dog to receive and channel air directly into the open mouth of the dog while the dog is running and breathing only through its mouth; further inlets in proximity to the dog's nostrils accommodate airflow during quiescent periods when the dog is breathing through its nostrils. Aerodynamically located openings promote exhaust airflow from the sides of the dog's mouth and minimize the presence of stale air within the muzzle.
