摘要： A device and method for providing overvoltage and overcurrent protection to equipment and personnel that come in contact with electrical lines, particularly telecommunications lines. The overvoltage protection is provided by connecting overvoltage protectors between conductors of the telecommunications line, or between each of the conductors and ground. The overcurrent protection is provided by solid-state bidirectional, resettable, fold-back type current limiters that limit maximum current flow at a predetermined level. These current limiters are arranged in line to the conductors of the telecommunications line and in series with equipment that are connected to the telecommunications line. The overvoltage protectors and the current limiters can be combined to form an integrated protection device, or they can be packaged as separate and distinct devices. The overvoltage and/or overcurrent protection schemes could be used at building entrance terminals, remote terminals, remote cabinets with electronics, in the central office at the main distribution frame, etc.

摘要： A vector DSL system includes a plurality of modems, which may be multi-port devices. Unprocessed user data is extracted from the modems and passed through a private vectoring data routing apparatus to one or more vectoring modules, such as vectoring cards. Each vectoring module includes one or more vector processors that include processing units configured to process the unprocessed user data on the basis of all modems' data for a given DSL tone grouping. Processing of the unprocessed user data removes the effects of FEXT from upstream and downstream user data and returns the processed user data to the modems using the vectoring data routing apparatus, which can be a specialized data transmission network utilizing one or more vector routers.

For example, such a system may include means for: interfacing to a currently operating Digital Subscriber Line (“DSL line”) operating within a DSL system having a plurality of DSL lines operating therein; evaluating an active configuration of the currently operating DSL line by collecting operational data for the DSL line during operation of the DSL line; determining a plurality of candidate configurations for the currently operating DSL line, the plurality of candidate configurations being operationally compatible with the currently operating DSL line; selecting one of the sub-set of the plurality of candidate configurations as the selected configuration for the DSL line based on a preferred operational characteristic; and transitioning the currently operating DSL line from operating using the active configuration for the DSL line to operating using the selected configuration for the DSL line. Other related embodiments are disclosed.

摘要： Methods, systems, and devices are described for wired communication. In one aspect, a distribution point may use a redundant number of digital subscriber line (DSL) lines that share a same cable binder to cancel crosstalk. For example a first distribution point may use a redundant number of lines, which may be virtualized lines, to cancel interference between lines controlled by the first distribution point and lines controlled by a second distribution point. In some cases, a distribution point may share precoding and cancelling coefficients with another distribution point over a cloud network or other service to enable vectoring without sharing transmitted data between the two distribution points. That is, the first distribution point may receive information related to crosstalk between sets of CPEs without receiving data transmitted by a separate distribution point sharing the same cable binder, and use the crosstalk related information to cancel crosstalk.

摘要： The invention presents a method of identifying faults on a DSL line, typically intermittent faults arising from unstable joints in the DSL line. The method collects errored seconds data at the DSLAM and at the customer's premises equipment (CPE, typically a home hub or router). The error data collected at the DSLAM are termed near-end errors, and the error data collected at the CPE are termed far-end errors. The near-end and far-end data is then analysed by applying regression analysis to determine if there is a correlation or match between the two sets of data. Matching data patterns are indicative of unstable or bad joints in the DSL line, and are typically intermittent and located near the customer's premises.
