The data aware deduplicating data store includes a consistent hashing logic that manages a consistent hashing architecture for the object store. The consistent hashing architecture includes a metadata ring and a bulk ring. The consistent hashing architecture may be a multiple ring architecture comprising a metadata ring and two or more bulk rings. A bulk ring may include a key/value (k/v) data store, where a k/v data store stores a shard of an index and a reference count that facilitates the individual approach to garbage collection or data reclamation. The data aware deduplicating data store also includes a deduplication logic that provides data deduplication for data to be stored in the object store. The deduplication logic performs variable length deduplication and provides a shared nothing approach.

摘要： One or more techniques and/or systems are provided for performing host side deduplication. Host side deduplication may be performed upon writeable data within a write request received at a host computing device configured to access data stored by a storage server. The host side deduplication may be performed at the host computing device to determine whether the writeable data is already stored by the storage server based upon querying a host side cache comprising data stored by a storage server and/or a data structure comprising unique signatures of data stored by the storage server. If the writeable data is stored by the storage server, then a deduplication notification excluding the writeable data may be sent to the storage server, otherwise a write command comprising the writeable data may be sent. Accordingly, unnecessary network traffic of redundant data already stored by the storage server may be reduced.

This can be useful in detecting anomalous or malicious traffic that may attempt to “hide” or inject itself into legitimate flows. A malicious endpoint might attempt to send a control message in underutilized header fields or might try to inject illegitimate data into a legitimate flow. These illegitimate flows will likely demonstrate header field entropy that is higher than legitimate flows. Detecting anomalous flows using header field entropy can help detect malicious endpoints.
