摘要： Quality of service and security are facilitated via functional classification of devices within a network. One method includes receiving, by a first device of devices of a network, notification information of a presence of a second device among the devices of the network, wherein the devices are configured to communicate information about events associated with respective operations of the devices; and generating, by the first device, first information indicative of an identity of and a functional classification of a function of the second device. The method also includes initiating, by the first device to a controller within the network, a transmission of second information for association of third information indicative of the functional classification of the function of the second device with data generated by the second device. The functional classification of the function of the second device is associated with potential impact of failure of the second device.

An intermittent fault is located in the CAN based upon the first and second fault sets.

At least one of the detected statuses are used to determine whether the first contact is free for transferring data. If the determining indicates that the data connection is free for transferring data, a first arbitration delay is waited before the status of the first contact and the status of the second contact are again detected. A transmission of a start bit is then started if the detected status of the first contact and the detected status of the second contact indicate that the first contact is still free for transferring data. There is also disclosed an apparatus and a storage medium having stored thereon a computer executable program code for use by an apparatus to implement the method.

More specifically, a network management system generates and displays an object that represents data for one or more performance characteristics related to a plurality of network nodes in the network path. In one embodiment, a graph having an x-axis and a y-axis is displayed, the x-axis being associated with two or more network nodes in the network path and the y-axis being associated with a first performance characteristic. Data corresponding to the first performance characteristic is plotted as data points corresponding to the network nodes associated with the x-axis. Data corresponding to a second performance characteristic may be represented via the size or the color of the data points. Alternatively, a characterization of the data corresponding to the first performance characteristic may be represented by the size or color of the data points.
