    • A transformer has a bar-shaped ferrite core, an inner winding wound directly around the ferrite core, an outer winding wound over the inner winding, and a dielectric shield surrounding the outer winding. The outer winding has its circumference covered by a dielectric sheath, and has an intermediate winding portion between its winding start end and its winding stop end. The dielectric sheath in the intermediate winding portion is spaced from each other along the axis of the ferrite core to leave thereat a gap which is filled with a molding material. By provision of the gap between the dielectric sheath of the outer winding, the molding material forming the dielectric shield can be easy to flow in between the dielectric sheath of the outer winding and the inner winding, avoiding the void from appearing between the inner and outer windings for attaining stable electrical characteristic.

    • A impact power tool includes a motor rotating a drive shaft, an output shaft holding a tool bit, and a hammer coupled to the drive shaft. The hammer is rotatable together with the drive shaft and is engageable with an anvil fixed to the output shaft so as to give a rotary impact to the output shaft. The tool includes a speed commander generating a target speed intended by a user, and a speed detector for detection of a speed of the drive shaft. A speed controller generates a control signal for driving the motor by referring to the target speed and the detected speed. The speed controller provides a detection time frame, and to adopt a predefined pseudo-detection speed as a substitute for the detected speed when no speed detection is available within the detection time frame. Accordingly, even if no speed detection continues, i.e., the motor is stalled over the detection time frame, the speed controller can successfully generate the control signal by making the use of the pseudo-detection speed, thereby continues to rotate the drive shaft for generating the impact regularly and consistently without causing a delay.

    • A protruding table which was conventionally provided in a center portion of a socket body is eliminated, so that a dimension of a socket in widthwise direction is reduced. When the socket is mounted on a circuit board, an adsorption cover is attached to the socket, and the socket is adsorbed by and held on an adsorption nozzle via the adsorption cover. On the other hand, with respect to a header, gaps between header posts arranged in longitudinal direction are separated by cross walls, so that concave portions are formed between the cross walls. Under a state that an adsorption face of the adsorption nozzle is contacted with the header so that a suction opening of the adsorption nozzle face the concave portion, an enclosed space is formed by at least two cross walls, a bottom face of the concave portion and the adsorption face of the adsorption nozzle. When air in the enclosed space is sucked from the suction opening of the adsorption nozzle, negative pressure occurs, so that the header is adsorbed by and held on the adsorption nozzle. Consequently, it enables the adsorption and holding by the adsorption nozzle, and enables to reduce a dimension of the socket in widthwise direction.

By receiving the battery receiving portion of the portable unit in a reception concave portion of the stationary unit and engaging a coupling convex portion with a coupling concave portion of the battery receiving portion, the portable unit is detachably attached to the stationary unit. Since the coupling concave portion for coupling to the stationary unit is formed in the battery receiving portion of the portable unit, the portable unit has a decreased size, compared with a case when the portion coupled to the stationary unit is provided independent of the battery receiving portion.
