摘要： An image coding method for performing compression-coding on image data includes: binarizing a signal to be coded of the image data, to generate a binary signal; determining a low-order context which is a context associated with a type of the signal to be coded, and a high-order context that is common to the low-order context and a context associated with another type; calculating coding probability information to be used in arithmetic coding of the binary signal, using (i) high-order probability information corresponding to the determined high-order context and (ii) low-order probability information corresponding to the determined low-order context; performing the arithmetic coding on the binary signal using the coding probability information; and updating the high-order probability information and the low-order probability information based on the binary signal.

摘要： The MPEG-4 Multiview Video Coding (MVC) standard provides the coding tools to compress images from more than one view. Traditionally, the base view of the multiple view images has to be coded by the MPEG-4 Advance Video Coding (AVC) standard. However, in some deployments, for compatibility to legacy players, MPEG-2 Video standard has to be used for the coding of the based view. This invention provides methods and apparatuses to compute the parameters required by the MVC encoder and decoder without signalling such information in the base view that is coded by the MPEG-2 video standard.

The metadata includes a correspondence table associating offset identifiers and offset information. The offset information defines offset control for each picture in a GOP. Offset control is processing to provide a left offset and right offset for the horizontal coordinates in a graphics plane to generate a pair of graphics planes that are respectively combined with main-view and sub-view video planes. The playlist information includes a stream selection table for each playback section. When the stream selection table associates a stream number with a packet identifier of a graphics stream, one of the offset identifiers is further allocated to the stream number.
