    • A toner cartridge including a hollow body of cylindrical form made of nonmagnetic material to serve as a container formed at its outer peripheral surface with a toner feeding slot extending lengthwise thereof, a first lid member attached to one end of the hollow body and formed at the outer peripheral surface of its end portion with a flange, a second lid member attached to the other end of the hollow body and formed at its bottom with a toner supply port, a cap member closing the toner supply port, and a sealing member that can be peeled off closing the toner feeding slot formed at the outer peripheral surface of the hollow body. The second lid member is formed of thin sheet metal by bending same at its outer peripheral edge portion in a manner to provide a minuscule clearance between a bent portion and the thin sheet metal and the hollow body is inserted at the other end thereof in the bent portion and secured in place. The hollow body is formed at its outer peripheral surface with a groove and the first lid member is formed at its outer periphery with a projection, so that the projection can be brought into locking engagement in the groove when the first lid member is attached to the hollow body.

    • A magnetic brush and developing process in which the same magnetic brush is used for developing electrostatic latent images and for cleaning the developing surface. The process includes the steps of (a) providing a magnet roll which includes a rotatable, non-magnetic cylindrical shell and a rotatablepermanent magnet disposed within the shell; (b) forming a magnetic brush of a developer power on the shell of the magnetic roll; (c) developing electrostatic latent images by softly rubbing the magnetic brush against electrostatic latent images on an image bearing surface; (d) transferring the developed images to a sheet; and (e) cleaning the image bearing surface by strongly rubbing the magnetic brush against the surface.

    • A method of electrophotography in which an electrostatic latent image is formed on the surface of a material layer and a non-magnetic cylinder is provided to confront the surface of said material layer. A permanent magnet roll made up of a plurality of symmetrically arranged magnetic poles extends axially in said cylinder. A magnetic brush is formed by attracting a semiconducting or insulating magnetic toner onto the cylinder with the aid of a magnetic attraction force of the permanent magnet roll. The cylinder and permanent magnet roll are moved relative to each other to permit the magnetic brush to slide along the surface of the material layer thereby to allow the magnetic toner to adhere at predetermined position on the surface of said material layer, and a toner image is transferred onto a transferring member and is then subjected to fixing. The cylinder and the permanent magnet roll are rotated in the same direction so that the magnetic toner is moved in the same direction as that of said material layer at a speed less than 100 mm/sec irrespective of the speed of movement of the surface of said material layer at a development section.

    • In a recording and reproducing apparatus in which a video signal is recorded by at least one rotary head in successive parallel tracks on a recording medium while the latter is being driven at a predetermined or standard speed in a direction to which said tracks are skewed, and in which the recorded video signal is reproduced by the rotary head repeatedly scanning the recording medium while the latter is selectively driven at the standard speed, as in the normal reproducing mode, or at an arbitrary speed other than such standard speed, for example, at zero speed for the still-motion reproducing mode, or at speeds less than and greater than the standard speed for the slow-motion and quick-motion reproducing modes, respectively; a variable delay circuit is operative during reproducing with the recording medium being driven at an arbitrary speed other than standard speed for variably delaying the video signal reproduced by said rotary head, and a control circuit controls the amounts by which the variable delay circuit delays the reproduced video signal in accordance with the arbitrary speed to cause fields of the reproduced video signal which are contiguous or next adjacent in point of time to be continuous in the delayed video signal and to contain respective horizontal synchronizing signals which are in predetermined phase relationships to each other, that is, precisely in phase or out of phase by one-half horizontal period, as when even- and odd-numbered fields are to be interlaced.

    • A device for removing residual toner from the surface of a photoreceptor after the transfer of a toner image from the photoreceptor surface to another surface comprises a fur brush for lightly sweeping residual toner particles on the surface of the photoreceptor to align the particles substantially in streaks along the sweeping direction and a magnetic roll for picking up the aligned toner particles by the magnetic attraction force of the magnetic roll. The fur brush is positioned adjacent to, and in a slight contact with, the surface of the photoreceptor. The magnetic roll is disposed adjacent to the surface of the photoreceptor and at the trailing side of the fur brush along the path of relative movement with the photoreceptor.
