    • A control apparatus for electric power plant comprises turbine speed control means for detecting the speed of a turbine coupled to an electric generator to control the turbine speed by controlling a steam flow supplied to the turbine on the basis of the detected speed, pressure control means for controlling the pressure in a steam generator on the basis of the pressure of the steam generator, and correcting means for correcting the steam flow supplied to the turbine only when fluctuation in the pressure of the steam generator brought about by rapid change of a set load value is deviated from a predetermined range in which the steam pressure is allowed to vary, the correction of the steam flow being made in correspondence to the deviation.

    • There are disclosed an improved method of and apparatus for use in monitoring or controlling the positional relationship of two relatively movable members. A leading and a trailing magnetic sensing probe are coupled to one of the members. Each probe is fixedly spaced relative to the other probe, and both are arranged so as to cut a magnetic field along a path of varying field strength generated by magnetic means on the other member. Control means are provided for periodically determining the values of the field strength measured by each of the probes and storing a value related to the measured value of a leading one of the probes as viewed in the direction of relative movement. The control means compares the stored value with the present value of the lagging probe so as to define the relative movement in accordance with the incremental separation of the probes and the relationship of the stored and present values.

    • A process for controlling an installation for the production of chemical substances sub-divides the process control into control regions which are controlled in a decentralized manner and in which a closed divisional function is carried out independently in each case. The working condition of a control region is determined by operating types which may be initially given and by a limited number of discrete operating values. The process parameters determining the control region condition are allocated to each operating value in one formulation. These parameters are adjusted by means of suitable devices. In the event of deviations of a parameter, the other formulation parameters are not adapted, but the procedure is interrupted if the permissible parameter limits are exceeded. Increases in the operating values are only permissible from a quasi-stationary working condition which is characterized by a normal signal formed from the process measurement values. In several control regions, the necessary flexibility is secured by a flow decoupling by means of buffers. Similar control regions are combined into groups, and different groups are combined into main groups. Groups and main groups are controlled together and are decoupled from one another by strategic buffers.
