摘要： A destaticizer which is adapted to remove electric charges from the surface of a photoreceptor by exposing the photoreceptor surface to light. The destaticizer includes a light source, and a light guide member for generally uniformly guiding light from the light source to a light exposure area on the photoreceptor. In accordance with one embodiment, the light guide member is an elongated member, which has an end face serving as a light receiving face for receiving the light emitted from the light source, a light transmitting path for transmitting the light received by the light receiving face, and a plurality of reflecting portions arranged along the length of the light guide member for reflecting the light transmitted through the light transmitting path in a direction intersecting the length of the light guide member.

A photosensitive layer is disposed on the outer surface of a rotatable closed-loop substrate drum. A charger, an exposure portion, a developing portion, a transfer portion, a fixing portion, and a cleaner are provided around the substrate drum. The charger includes an X-ray generator, which electrolytically dissociates the air on the surface of the photosensitive layer upon X-ray irradiation, and electric-field generator which guides a gaseous ion formed by electrolytic dissociation to the surface of the photosensitive layer. The cleaner is constituted by erasure X-ray generation means which ionizes the air on the photosensitive layer, in which a coloring fine particle remains, upon irradiation with an X-ray irradiation, while generating a carrier within the photosensitive layer.

The charge removal brush includes a metal shaft rotatable about the axis thereof, a strip-like woven cloth including a base cloth and long conductive filamentous elements uniformly planted in the substantially entire surface of the base cloth, the strip-like woven cloth being spirally wound on the metal shaft with no gap, and a conductive fiber is woven into the base cloth in a state that the conductive fiber runs along the center line of the base cloth, which is extended in the lengthwise direction of the base cloth.

摘要： The present invention is a method and apparatus for controlling free charge on a moving web. The method and apparatus includes two DC ionizers one of each polarity positioned near one surface of the web. A conductive plate mounted on the opposite side of the web opposite the DC ionizers is controlled in response to the free charge measured on the web downstream of the ionizers. The present invention allows control of the free charge on the web to almost zero without imparting any frequency in the charge on the web.
