摘要： A ladar system and related method are disclosed where the ladar system comprises first and second receivers. The first receiver receives a ladar return from a ladar pulse with a known transmit polarization. The second receiver receives the ladar return from the ladar pulse with the known transmit polarization. The ladar system also includes a control circuit that (1) measures incident polarizations at the first and second receivers with respect to the received ladar return and (2) separates a retro-reflective portion of the received ladar return from a non-retro-reflective portion of the received ladar return based on the measured incident polarization and the known transmit polarization.

摘要： A laser ranging system includes a light source emitting a beam of collimated light. A beam splitter polarizes the beam with a first type of linear polarization. A wave plate receives the beam from the beam splitter and polarizes the beam with a circular polarization. A movable mirror scans the beam across a target, receives a return beam from the target, and reflects the return beam toward the wave plate. The wave plate polarizes the return beam with a second type of linear polarization. The beam splitter receives the return beam from the wave plate. A detector detects arrival of the return beam from the beam splitter. A circuit receives determines a distance to the target as a function of a time interval between emission of the beam and arrival of the return beam.

Various properties of the backscattering water particles, which can be determined from the detected portion of the projected pulse backscattered by water particles can include particle density and/or particle size.

The location on the object is illuminated with a portion of each of two or more of the radiation patterns, the location producing multiple object radiations, each object radiation produced in response to one of the multiple radiation patterns. Multiple measured values are produced by detecting the object radiations from the location on the object due to each pattern separately using one or more detector elements. The location on the object is estimated based on the multiple measured values.
