    • An arrow including a shaft, a head affixed to the shaft and being formed of an elastomeric material, and a marker receptacle formed at an end of the head opposite the shaft. The marker receptacle serves to receive a marker material and to release the marker material upon contact between the head and a target. The head is a truncated cone having a narrow end attached to the shaft. A cavity is formed in the head opposite to the shaft and opens to the surface of the head opposite the shaft. The marker receptacle is deformable so as to release the marker material. The marker is viscous paint which adheres to the target upon contact with the target.

    • A munition incorporating a miniature transmitter (25) and a piezoelectric power supply (45) which converts a portion of the kinetic energy of the projectile (20), upon impact, into radio frequency energy and radiates that energy into space. The transmitter (25) can be made in suitable sizes to fit various calibers of ammunition. Different caliber ammunition can be made to radiate different frequencies. The transmitted RF energy allows the point of impact of the projectiles to be located with a high degree of precision. This type of munition may be used in the scoring of air to ground gunnery in training environments by receiving the RF energy at several known locations and determining the point of impact using time of arrival or angle of arrival techniques. Frequency discrimination allows simultaneous scoring of multiple weapons from the same aircraft or from multiple aircraft. The munition may be employed in tactical applications by allowing the fall of fire to be located and adjusted.

    • A cartridge comprises a longitudinal tube having a transverse open end. A projectile is accommodated in and can slide longitudinally inside the tube. The projectile is ejected from the tube through the open end by sliding longitudinally relative to the tube. There is a pyrotechnic charge in the projectile. A device for securing delayed initiation of this charge comprises a fuse, a percussion member in the projectile movable between a retracted position in which it is removed from the fuse and a striking position in which it strikes the fuse, a device adapted to hold the percussion member temporarily in its retracted position and complementary mechanical devices on part of the projectile and part of the tube facing the path followed by this part of the projectile as it is ejected. The complementary mechanical devices impel the percussion member towards the striking position, overriding the temporary holding device, when the aforementioned part of the projectile passes across the aforementioned part of the tube during ejection of the projectile from the tube.
