The accuracy of the rebending is assured by imparting an overbend which accommodates the spring back that accompanies the rebending.

A biasing spring urges the tumbler seats toward the pivot and tends to hold a particular seat against the pivot to define the axis of tumbler rotation. To change the combination, the tumbler is positively shifted along the series of seats by turning a key which bears against the tumbler and overcomes the biasing force of the spring, displacing one seat from the pivot and shifting the tumbler until another seat engages the pivot.

After insertion of a key for which the lock is presently conditioned and rotation of the key to the unlocked condition, the screw may be loosened and the key rotated an additional distance whereby the initial key can be removed from the lock and a second key may be placed in the lock and rotated to return the bolt plate to the locked position and the changing screw tightened down to lock the fences in the new position adapted to the new key.

The noses are cast metal provided with a universal size base having locking elements for engaging the cover plate. The locking elements include bayonet-type wings engaging the top surface of the cover plate and locking wedges engaging beneath resilient retainer arms stamped from the cover plate. A locking detent is provided between the retainer arms and the mating locking wedges. The safe deposit door is positioned flush on top of the retainer arms and wings to assure engagement of the detent once the lock is positioned on the back of the door. The heads of the lock plugs are received in the noses providing the desired match for previously installed boxes.

摘要： A duplex lock codable by a master key and releasable by a duplex key and comprising a first fixed hollow cylindrical body in which a second cylindrical body is rotatably mounted. An axially shiftable slider is firmly secured to the second cylindrical body for locking it relative to the first cylindrical body by insertion in a cavity provided at the bottom of the first cylindrical body. When the slider is withdrawn, the two cylindrical bodies are released. The slider is provided with a plurality of axially spaced recesses which by axial movement of the slider can be brought into alignment with a plurality of apertures in the rotatable cylindrical body. Each of the apertures accommodates a U-shaped rocker lever having a front U-shaped end facing the slider and a rear end attached to a helical spring tending to pull the rocker lever toward an abutment surface in the interior of the rotatable cylindrical body. When the master key is inserted in the rotatable cylindrical body, the legs formed by the U-shaped ends of the rocker levers are lifted and swung into the recesses in the slider and when the duplex key is inserted axially in the rotatable cylindrical body adjacent the master key, the legs of the rocker levers are lifted and swung by the same amount in the opposite direction, resulting in centering of the slider and permitting it to be withdrawn axially to open the lock.

摘要： A lock construction for a safe deposit box requires two keys for operation of the bolt. The first key is provided by the vault guard and the second key is provided by the customer. Each key activates a separate set of wafer-like tumblers by rotating the tumblers in response to rotation of the key. Each set of tumblers includes a plurality of key engaging drive tumblers which are gear engaged with gate tumblers. Appropriate rotation of the keys orients a notch of the gate tumblers that permits withdrawal of the bolt. Stops are provided on the bolt cooperative with key operated shifters to insure sequential operation of the keys. A change key tool may be inserted from the back side of the lock to disengage the drive and gate tumblers. Subsequent to disengagement of the tumblers, it is possible to substitute one or both of the keys and thus change the relative gear engagement of the tumblers. Unique features of the security lock include the tumbler drive mechanism, the key combination change mechanism and the stop arrangement that insures sequential operation of the keys.
